boy, i heard my name's on the tip of your tongue
and i'm empty too, if that is what you want
and i looked into your eyes and you're the one
that i wanted, baby, that i wanted
~ madison beer, follow the white rabbitLydia stared blankly outside the window, watching as the trees flew past as they continued on down the street, trying to push the memory from earlier out of her mind. She wanted so badly to focus on anything else which was why she would have happily accepted Rebekah's offer to drive to New York City to follow a lead for the cure if she had been asked. But she wasn't asked. She was forced.
"I still can't believe you snapped by neck," Lydia informed Rebekah from the passenger seat as she rubbed at her neck. It wasn't hurting, she just thought the idea of having her neck snapped and then waking up to be strange.
"It was the only way to prevent you from going to Silas," Rebekah reminded her."Now the two of us can leave town and put our baggage in the rear view mirror. Call it a girls trip if you will. Nik and I both agreed that this was the best option. And what is more fun than two girls taking over a city together?"
"Well thanks for letting me weigh in on that decision," Lydia replied sarcastically, glancing ahead at the road, seeing the other cars driving in front of them.
Rebekah peered over at Lydia before turning back to the road, noticing Lydia's small pout and sad eyes."You know, you are the first girl friend I have had in centuries. I am not sure how to do this. I'm sorry if I overstepped a boundary."
Lydia sighed and turned to look at the blonde vampire, feeling a bit bad for being hard on her."You didn't. It's just what happened this morning. . . I know he's not himself and he doesn't know who I am but-"
"I understand," Rebekah responded as she thought back to earlier."You still love him. You are allowed to be upset that-"
"He doesn't love me," Lydia finished for her, taking a deep breath and leaning back in her seat, but every time she closed her eyes, all she could see was that woman leaving Kol's room.

Given the circumstance, Lydia was surprisingly optimistic when she woke up the next morning. She had completed her normal morning routine, showered, and dressed before heading to get breakfast. Waking up without Kol by her side was a painful reminder of what happened, but she tried to remind herself that with each day that passed, she was one day closer to getting Kol back. Not that she had any idea of when that date would actually be.
As Lydia stepped into the hallway, she was greeted by Rebekah who just so happened to be exiting her room as well and smiled softly when she saw laid eyes on the psychic.
"Good morning, lovely," Rebekah greeted."How are you holding up?"
Lydia just shrugged her shoulders, not sure how to answer. Even though she was feeling fine, she didn't want to jinx it so she stayed quiet and decided to change the subject."Have you gotten any closer to tracking down Katerina?"
