question of the chapter: what is your fav lydia friendship?

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

Lydia was sure that Bonnie had asked her that four times now. Twice before class started, once during, and now once after. Lydia understood that Bonnie was concerned, though she didn't really understand why. It wasn't like this was the most terrifying thing she had ever done, that any of them had ever done. Not at all.

"If I can stand up to original vampires and immortal witches, I can stand up to a narcissistic biology professor," Lydia reminded her jokingly, picking up her bag from the floor, standing up from the chair as other students left the room in a hurry, either having somewhere else to be or just not wanting to be in class any longer than they had to.

"Do you want me to stay?" Bonnie offered, standing up too and glancing towards Dr. Maxfield who was shifting through papers on his desk, getting ready to leave so Lydia had to hurry up.

"I got it," Lydia said. She would rather do it alone. Lydia didn't know Dr. Maxfield prior to taking this class, but she could tell that she knew him from somewhere. She just didn't know where, but something told her that he knew something. About what? Lydia didn't know.

"I'll be right outside," Bonnie nodded her head.

"I figured," Lydia sighed, knowing that Bonnie wasn't going to leave her alone completely. She turned to leave the row, walking down the few steps that led to the front of the classroom where Dr. Maxfield still was.

"Dr. Maxfield, can I talk to you for a second?" Lydia asked, approaching his desk.

"Uh, I have a meeting just now, can this wait?" He barely even looked up at Lydia.

"No. But it'll be quick," She said to him."Depending on whether or not you answer the question directly."

Dr. Maxfield paused, looking up at Lydia and furrowing his brow."Okay?"

"Why do you keep staring at me?" Lydia asked bluntly, figuring that it would be best to just get out with it. She had no reason to skirt around the question.

"Sorry?" He frowned, as if he didn't know what Lydia was talking about. Maybe he didn't, but Lydia noticed, and it was making her uncomfortable. She couldn't decide whether or not it was just something weird, or psychic weird.

"You keep staring at me during class," Lydia clarified."I noticed. Bonnie noticed. Ariel noticed. I'm sure we're not the only ones."

He nodded his head slowly, setting down the papers that he was holding and leaning his hands against the desk."I apologize if I made you uncomfortable."
