and in the morning, i'll be with you
but it will be a different kind
'cause i'll be holding all the tickets
and you'll be owning all the fines
~ birdy, skinny loveIt had been quite a long time since Lydia woke up wrapped in Kol's arms. Last night was one of the best sleeps she ever had because she knew she was safe. No one could hurt her when she was with Kol. She could let her guard down completely and not have to worry about a single thing and she knew that Kol felt the same way so she was surprised when she woke up and saw the spot by her side was empty.
She frowned and pushed the covers off of her body, placing her feet against the cold floors. Just as she stood up from the bed, she heard a large banging from outside of the room. Worried as to what it could be, Lydia didn't hesitate in flashing down almost instantly. Her mind instantly went to the worst possible scenario like it typically did. She was expecting to see a fight or some type of altercation. And that was exactly what she got. But it wasn't with a person.
When she arrived in the kitchen, she saw Kol standing in front of what was now a broken, smashed waffle machine on the floor, glaring daggers at it.
"Wow, you killed it," Lydia almost laughed upon seeing it. She wondered what made him break the machine.
"The thing attacked me," Kol insisted, kicking it off to the side with his foot.
Lydia twitched her head to the right and raised her brows, growing amused and curious as to where Kol's story would go. So she leaned against the counter, taking notice of the plate with burnt waffles before looking back at Kol."Alright, let's hear it."
"I woke up and wanted to make my beautiful girlfriend breakfast," Kol explained."I made the mix and then when I poured it in. . . Well, the first batch burnt. The second one caught on fire and burned me so yes, it did very well attack me."
Lydia giggled and shook her head."Kol, you've made waffles before. It was the first thing you ever made for me. How did you. . ."
"Perhaps it is time I confess," Kol sighed in defeat which confused Lydia."I wanted to cook your breakfast back then, but I had no idea how to work this machine and luckily one of your neighbours was walking by so I compelled them to show me how to do it."
Lydia stared at Kol for a moment before laughing. She knew Kol still struggled with some modern technology. He was a great cook, but there have been some incidents with blenders and mixers and ovens."Why not just compel them to do it?"
"Because I wanted to be the one to make them," Kol admitted with a small shrug of her shoulders.
"That's adorable," Lydia commented as she pulled herself away from the counter and stepped over the broken waffle."You were trying to impress me before we were even close."
"Yes, well, you were sad," Kol reminded her as she wrapped her arms around his back and looked up at him."Sad and tired and hungry."
"You just forgot that you couldn't cook," Lydia added with a small laugh."You've been undaggered for almost a year, Kol. If you haven't learned by now, you probably never will."
