question of the chapter: what has been your fav part of this fic?

Kol never realized just how big the manor was until now. Up until now, it was never just him and Lydia. Whenever he was there, so was Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah. With the three of them gone, it felt cold. Empty. Too large for just two people and one young child. But when he walked into the kitchen, it felt much warmer. Not as lonely. He smiled when he saw Lydia and Estelle sitting at the kitchen table, both eating the same thing, yogurt with berries.

"Good morning," He greeted them with a small smile, walking towards the table and past Lydia, stopping to kiss her cheek.

"Morning, lov- hey!" Lydia exclaimed as Kol quickly swiped his hand and snatched a strawberry from her bowl."Get your own."

"Things are better when they're stolen," Kol shrugged his shoulders.

"Kol! You can't say that in front of a kid!" Lydia turned her neck around to look at her husband who had gone behind the counter to grab the left over fruits.

"She doesn't know what I mean, do you Estelle?" Kol asked the young girl who just smiled in response and nodded her head quickly.

"Caroline's coming over in a bit," Lydia informed him, switching the topic before Kol had a chance to praise another crime."She said she had something she wanted to tell me."

"About Estelle?" Kol asked, popping a blueberry into his mouth and walking back towards the table, pulling out the chair across from Lydia and sitting down.

"I'm not sure." Lydia shrugged her shoulders."But she sounds optimistic. So either it's a yes, or Tyler finally proposed to her."

"Estelle, why don't we go to the store to-" Lydia turned to look at the young girl who was currently shoving a handful of blueberries into her mouth. She noticed that Estelle had abandoned her fork in favour of eating with her hands, which was what Kol was currently doing. But Kol didn't have yogurt in his bowl."Hey, use a fork please, sweetie."

Estelle nodded her head quickly, showing her hands to Lydia which were covered in yoghurt and nodding towards the hall where the bathroom was. Estelle had washed her hands there before she ate, so Lydia assumed that was what she wanted.

"You can go wash your hands, Estelle," Lydia nodded her head. She watched as the girl hopped off her chair and quickly walked towards the hall, leaving Kol and Lydia alone for a bit.

"I'm gonna have to go to the store to get some food," Lydia sighed."This house is basically empty. I couldn't cook anything."

"Let's not blame the ingredients, love, don't think I didn't notice that disaster on the counter," Kol chuckled, glancing past Lydia and looking at several bowls filled with what Kol assumed was supposed to be some type of batter.

"Pancakes," Lydia admitted with a small laugh."But still. We do need proper food."

"We only need proper food if she's going to be staying with us," Kol reminded her of their discussion last night. Lydia had given it some thought. A lot of thought. It had kept her up almost all night, which was why she had attempted to cook so early. Before Estelle even got up. She needed something to do. But she still didn't have an answer. On one hand, Lydia thought it was a good idea. She was worried about the girl, and the best way to ease that worry would be to look out for her herself. But was that selfish? Lydia didn't know the first thing about raising a child. She couldn't actually guarantee that she would be able to give Estelle a good life.
