Katniss POV- (Two days later)

"Guess what?" I whisper softly into Peeta's ear.

He looks over, "What?" He asks with his eyes wide.

"I love you."

Peeta just laughs, "Well, you did agree to marry me but I love you too."

I roll my eyes, "Well, I would hope so since you did ask me to marry you." I mock him.

He smiles softly and shrugs, "What should we do now?" He asks.

"I don't know, I have an interview at 3:20." I inform him.

"Oh, so that's why you dressed up all fancy today? I thought it was for me." He teases.

"Ha, no."

"Where's it at?" He asks curiously.

"At the bank." I reveal, knowing I'm going get teased for it.

Peeta scoffs, "At the bank? Katniss, you despise math and numbers." He hackles me.

I let out a sigh, "I know. I just didn't know where else to apply." I admit.

This job hunt thing isn't going too smoothly for me but I haven't told Peeta that.

"Okay, what are you gonna do if you get it?" He asks.

"Work there." I say sarcastically.

He rolls his eyes at me, "Will you now?" He jokes.

"Yeah, I will." I shoot back.

"Katniss, you don't need to-" I cut him off.

"I'm doing this." I insist.

He leans back against the couch, "Okay."

I lean against the arm of the couch, my legs in Peeta's lap.

"And when I come home everyday, you can rub my feet and give me massages and tell me you love me." I joke.

Peeta laughs a little, "What if I went back to work?"

"I would do the same thing for you."

"No, I mean what if I really go back to work at the bakery?"

I frown.

"You know how I feel about you being there with your mother, Peeta." I sigh.

"Katniss, I'm not a kid anymore. I can't keep hiding from her." Peeta says, a little frustrated.

I shrug, he's letting me do this even though he doesn't want me to.

I should let him do this, especially if he thinks he can handle it.

"Okay, fine. You can go back." I give in.

"I know you're scared she will hurt me but I won't let it happen." Peeta tries to assure me.

"Peeta, it's not like you just let her beat you or yell at you before." I shoot at him.

He groans, "I know that but at least try and be a little supportive."

"I am. Do whatever you want."

"Katniss, stop. Why do we always have to fight about stupid things?" Peeta asks me.

"I don't know." I tell him.

I honestly don't understand why Peeta and I fight over the silliest things.

We've always been that way though.

Peeta moves my legs off on his and gets off the couch, "I don't know either."
