Katniss POV- (April 17th)
"I'll see you tomorrow, I promise. Here, you remember this?" Peeta asks, slipping a letter into my hand.
I look down and smile softly.
'Open when it's the night before our wedding.'
I nod and embrace him one last time.
"Peeta, I'm nervous." I murmur into his shoulder.
He looks down and frowns, "So am I."
I nod a little, feeling the urge to cry.
Not sad tears.
Or mad.
Just tears out of nervousness and pure joy.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath, "Hey, don't sweat it." Peeta says, knowingly.
"I'm so happy, I just can't believe it's finally here." I admit.
Peeta chuckles a breathy laugh, "Me neither. I've been waiting since we were sixteen for this, Katniss." He reminds me.
I place the letter down on our kitchen table behind me.
"I know, so have I. You're only nineteen and I'm eighteen, it's just I don't know. Don't worry about it." I say, confusing myself and surely confusing Peeta.
"We don't have to do this. I know we are young but-"
I cut him off, "We are doing this. I want nothing more than to marry you, Peeta. I promise." I assure him, intertwining our fingers.
He looks down at our hands and squeezes my left hand, "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
"Are you positive?" He asks.
"I'm positive."
"Are you absolutely, surely, 100% positive that you want to do this?" He smirks.
"I'm absolutely, surely, 10,000% positive I want to marry you tomorrow, Peeta." I laugh.
"Good. One more ring." He says with a wink.
I nod and bring my lips just inches from his, "Just. One. More." I murmur against his warm lips.
He smiles and I bring my lips to his, passionately kissing him, one last time before I become his bride.
"I will see you soon." I say, breaking away from him.
He smiles somewhat proudly, "See you soon." Peeta says, retrieving his bags tonight and for tomorrow.
Just as he walks out the front door I stop him, "I love you." I add in.
Peeta stops and turns around, he grins, "I love you too." He grins, turning back around and walking out our front door, leaving me alone.
Well, at least for a few hours.
Bristol and Carter are coming over in an hour or so to stay with me tonight.
Just like me, Peeta is sleeping at his old house, in his old room.
Well, our room is my old room but it's just not our room without Peeta.
I don't quite understand why he just didn't stay with someone else but I know he's trying to repair things with his family.
I really hope that he does too.
His dad seems pretty excited about the wedding finally arriving and has been attempting to mend their relationship after Peeta got so sick with his blood poisoning.
