Katniss POV- (2pm)

Peeta and I drive separately over to the counseling office.

His idea, not mine.

When we get there, we go inside and meet a lady about 65 or so, with gray hair.

"Hello, I'm Mags. I'll be your marriage counselor. You must be Katniss." She says quietly, shaking my hand first.

"And you must be Peeta." She says, turning to him, he stands there with a scowl on his face.

It annoys me more because he's the one who's mentioned counseling multiple times but now that we are here, he's being crabby about it.

He nods and shakes her wrinkly hand.

"Okay, you two. I want you both to come over and sit down on the couch together." Mags says, walking over to her own chair.

Peeta and I do as we are told and sit down (a safe distance away from each other if I may add.)

"Okay, how long have you been married Katniss?"

I sigh, how embarrassing is this.

"Three months." I mumble.

Maybe we shouldn't have come?

"Alright. Well, I will inform you that we have many newly weds coming in to get help adjusting to their new lifestyles."

We just stare back at her, silent.

"Not all newlyweds argue about the same things though. Can one of you explain what has been going on?"

I look at Peeta and he shakes his head, wanting me to talk.

"Well, there's a lot of things from our past that doesn't help now."

"Give me an example about something from Peeta's past that you believe is affecting your marriage."

I hold a breath before speaking, "Peeta's mother use to abuse him. Physically, emotionally and verbally. I think that he has some built up anger from that and it affects the way he reacts to things going on in our life." I inform her.

Hey, if she is going to help us she needs to know everything.

Peeta just stares at me.

Maybe he should've told her himself.

"Okay, Peeta if you'd like to tell some of Katniss's history for me?"

He stares down at the floor and looks up, "When Katniss was eleven, her father passed away. Her mother went into a depression, she never talked or cooked or worked or did anything, leaving Katniss to care for herself and her sister who was about 7 at the time. Then a year ago, her little sister passed away. It has put a strain on our relationship at times because coping is hard. Especially when you are in a relationship." Peeta mumbles to us.

"I'm very sorry for your losses." Mags tells me.

I give a fake smile and murmur a 'thank you.'

"Okay. Well, you both seem to have very rough pasts that obviously affect your relationship."

I roll my eyes, "Yeah, maybe a little." I say sarcastically.

Peeta scoffs.

"I want Katniss to tell me what is going on right now that made you both decide to come to counseling." She says.

Great.

"Well, two of our friends have recently had babies." I start and she nods.

"Okay."
