Chapter Sixty-Eight

Katniss POV-

"Bristol, are you okay now?" I ask, walking into the waiting room again.

The girls have been in with Finn and Annie for a long time so this is probably our time to talk and Peeta stays in the hall.

She lifts her head up, "No."

I frown and sit down next to her, "Well, you know that Peeta and I are here for you and so are our friends."

"It's still upsetting and I'm not going to move on."

I roll my eyes, "I know it is. I promise if I was in your situation I would be devastated but sweetie, you can't afford to be devastated. It's happening for a reason and you got such an amazing gift out of it." I say, patting Carter's full belly.

Bristol smiles sadly, "I got the best gift out of it but still. She won't have a dad. My biggest fear is coming true and I know I'll never find anyone else."

I frown and lean my head back, "Bristol, I know it's hard now but I all I want for you after all this is someone that'll be there for you and Carter. I know Brandon is her dad but he's not there and he will never be there the way you need him. I'm sorry. All I want for you is to find someone who loves you both and is there for you." I say truthfully.

That is all I want to come out of this situation.

She stares at me, giving me a deep look, "Thank you." Bristol whispers.

I sit more upright, "I love you two and I just want you to find someone for you both. A new dad for Carter and a new love for you and I know it'll be hard but it'll happen and you both deserve that. If not, you have us."

"I know that and I'm so grateful for you both." She says, laying her head on my shoulder.

I sit there awkwardly.

I am not much for affection, unless it's Peeta but I don't move away.

"Peeta and I are serious, anything you need us to do, we will."

Bristol shrugs, "I just don't want you to leave." She says so softly, I almost am unable to catch it.

"We are here for you whenever you need us." I tell her, it's not as graceful as Peeta would've said it but I get the point across.

A few seconds later, the girls finally come out.

"Oh my gosh, Katniss! Isn't he just the cutest thing?" Glimmer squeals.

I look up and smile a little, "Yes, he is. And so sweet." I say enthusiastically.

She smiles and the other girls agree, "So, Bristol, how old is the baby now?" Madge asks.

"She just turned two months old a few days ago." Bristol says plainly, expressionless.

"She is so beautiful too." Madge pipes.

This makes Bristol laugh a little breathily, "Thank you."

I nudge her and give her a look.

"Well, would you guys like to go out in a little bit? Give Annie and Finnick some time." I suggest, knowing they want some time alone.

"Sure, that would be fun. We could go eat or something." Glimmer says.

Peeta enters the room and sits down next to me, "Do you wanna come eat with us?" I ask him.

He kisses me on the cheek, "Sure, if I'm invited. I'm the only guy." He laughs.

"Oh, come on, Peeta. We will let you come." Glimmer says.
