Katniss POV- (At the clinic with Carter and Peeta)

"Hello. Come fill out some information on the patient." A nurse says behind a counter and slides me a clip board under the glass.

I go back and sit next to Peeta who has a sleeping Carter in his arms, her little cheeks are still red and drool streaming onto Peeta's shoulder.

I begin filling out the information with her birthdate and all her symptoms and such.

"Oh, finally. Someone who will tell me the truth!" I hear my old teacher, Miss Octavia squeal as she exits the back or doctor's office.

I look up, "Um, hi. The truth about what?" I ask her curiously as she rushes over to Peeta, Carter, and I.

She leans over and examines Carter who is asleep on Peeta's shoulder, "The truth about this being your child." Miss Octavia says.

I laugh, "No, she's not ours. It's my friends kid. We are just watching her." I say.

She shakes her head, "Katniss, don't be embarrassed, this baby even has your hair and Peeta's chin!"

I laugh and Peeta shakes his head, "I already told you she's not our baby, Miss Octavia."

I turn to Peeta and give him a look and he just gives me one that says 'I'll tell you later.'

"Peeta, I know how much you two care about each other. Don't be embarrassed, this is your child." She nods her head.

I roll my eyes, "She's not. We just got married about a month ago, we haven't had children." I state frustratedly.

"Carter Kline." I nurse calls.

I look to Peeta who stands up, I stand too.

"Carter Kline, not Mellark." I state and we follow the nurse back, leaving the confused, crazy lady behind us.

We enter the room where the nurse checks her weight and vitals and all that and Peeta carefully lays her on the scale, she starts to get upset but soon stops.

The nurse takes her temperature and even measures her without any problems.

"She's running a temp. She is 11 pounds now, just about right for her age, she was early?" The nurse asks.

I nod.

I just hope she knows we aren't Carter's parents.

"How much did she weigh at birth?"

I shrug, "I believe she was about six pounds."

The nurse nods and writes it down on a clip board.

"So, you think she is just teething?" The nurse asks.

I nod and look to Peeta for assurance, "I think so but she was up all night long so I am not really sure. She didn't run a fever until I checked it this morning. We let her chew on some stuff and it seemed to help but we just want to be sure." I explain.

She nods, "Good mom."

I shake my head and before I say something, Peeta just shakes his head, telling me not to say anything, so I don't.

"Well, if you want to bring her back here, the doctor will come in a minute." She says, leading us into another room.

I sit in the chair while Peeta sits on the rackety examination bed with Carter sprawled across his arms, exhausted.

"What did Miss Octavia say the other day?" I ask curiously.

Peeta shakes his head, "So, you know after you got back from the hospital and Bristol came over and I took Carter with me to the store?"
