Katniss POV- (Wedding night)
I am now Katniss Mellark.
It sounds weird saying it aloud but it feels so right, like it's natural but still different.
I have never been prouder than to be Peeta Mellark's wife and I know he's never been prouder than to be my husband.
That also sounds weird.
Peeta is my husband and I am his wife.
I'm so used to calling him my best friend or boyfriend but even calling him my fiancé before was different. But a good different of course, a great one actually.
Peeta and I's wedding was absolutely perfect.
The temperature was perfect.
Not too cold or too hot and there were no winds, just a barely noticeable breeze coming from the south.
The sun was shining but not so bright that it hurt your eyes or so brightly that you needed to squint. A few clouds were floating about the blue sky and the birds were singing.
The thing that made this day even more perfect, was as Peeta carried me into the house after we got home, he noticed a dandelion outside our house. He stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and just smiled down at the ground. I looked at him as he just stood there holding me and staring down at the ground.
"What?" I asked him, grinning.
He chuckled a bit, "It's a dandelion."
I couldn't help but smile wider.
Peeta carefully held my body closer against his as he bent down, picking the little yellow ball of flower.
"For you." He said, carefully placing it in the palm of my free hand.
"Thank you." I mumble gratefully to him.
He just smiles somewhat proudly and carries me up into the house, setting me down on the island of our kitchen.
"I need to change out of my dress and you need to get out of that suit." I tell him.
He shrugs and walks closer towards me.
I lean forward and embrace him, he smirks and wraps his arms around my waist as my legs wrap around his, he kisses my forehead gently.
It tingles where his sweet warmth lingers on my skin.
I close my eyes, basking in his love, "I love you so much." He murmurs to me.
I let out a girly giggle and he smiles so happily at me and let's out his own laugh.
"I love you too." I mumble back.
"You need to take off your dress before it gets dirty." Peeta whispers to me.
I smirk, "Oh yeah? How about your suit? Wouldn't want that to get dirty." I laugh back.
Peeta just chuckles, "How about we go do that?" He asks softly.
I nod my head, "Okay, I'm going to shower too, get all this makeup off. You're not going to like me once I take it off though." I joke.
Peeta shakes his head, "I think you're beautiful either way but no matter what, you're perfect to me."
"Thank you."
He chuckles, shaking his head, "Let's go?"
I nod and he picks me back up holding me sideways, like a bride. The skirt of my dress draping over his left arm and my hair hanging over his right one. Peeta carefully takes me up the stairs and into our bedroom and sets me down on the bed now.
