Chapter Eighty-Eight

Katniss POV-

"They said we could show up whenever." I tell Peeta, hanging up the phone with Annie.

"That's good. Now call Bristol."

I laugh, "Fine." I say and call her.

(On the phone with Bristol)

"Katniss Mellark..." She answers immediately.

"Bristol Brown." I say, not really knowing whether or not to use her maiden name or married name, being that she and Brandon aren't officially divorced yet.

"What's up?"

"Well, since you didn't get to a while back, Peeta and I are going to come visit you soon."

"Yay! When?"

"Whenever you're ready." I laugh.

She gasps, "Today?"

I laugh and shake my head, so does Peeta.

He knows what she asked.

"Maybe not today. It's already nine o'clock at night."

She scoffs, "You are only like 4 hours away. Come on."

I scoff, "Let me ask Peeta." I say, knowing the answer is probably 'no' for once.

"Fine." She says and I turn to Peeta.

"No." He says with a knowing look.

I smile, "He said 'no.'"

"He did not. He has never told you 'no' in his life. It's not possible."

I laugh, "Oh but he did."

"Let me talk to him." She says.

I hand Peeta the phone.

"No." He says simply to her with a crooked smile.

They are so mean to each other but I like that they are like brother and sister.

I think that it's good for Peeta to feel like a protector or like a big brother again (since Prim).

For Bristol (an only child) to have a brother-like figure and me, as a 'sister,' I guess.

"It's too late. Katniss will be pissed if she misses a lot of sleep and I might end up sick."

"I will, I swear." Peeta chuckles, making me smile.

"Okay. Don't believe me but we will leave first thing in the morning. Trust me, I'm ready to see her more than she is me. Same goes for Katniss."

I know they're talking about Carter and that makes me happy.

"Alright. Now go to bed and the sooner you sleep, the quicker we will get there."

I laugh and so does Peeta as they both hang the phone up.

"You have a real brat as a friend, you know that?" Peeta laughs.

I nod my head.

"You've got Bristol and Johanna and Glimmer and and don't get me started on Finnick ."

"You're right about them all." He laughs.

"Well, I guess we better pack."

He sits up, "I guess so." He says, holding his hands out to me, pulling me up with I take it.

When we both stand face to face, Peeta pulls me into a loving hug.

"Love you."

"Love you too." I say.
