You placed the pastries you, Mia, and Alcina had made into the oven, setting the timer and started on cleaning up. The clean up process was rather straightforward, making you smile to have a moment alone. The tension in the room had felt like it was choking you, like prey caught between battling jaws. It wasn't until Mia snuck into the kitchen that the tension partially came back. "Hey... I wanted to let you know, I'm sorry that I tracked you down. I should've sent you a letter or an email first." Mia began, her voice quiet.
Where is Bela? I thought she was supposed to be watching over you. Speak of the devil.
As Mia began, Bela came in and sat on one of the clean counters. "I just... I wanted to see you after all this time. Everyone misses you back home, your friends miss you." Mia spoke softly to avoid hitting any nerves, knowing that you still felt hostile towards her. You looked up from cleaning a bowl, then sighed. "I can't go back. If I go back, then I won't be able to come back here. This is my home now, Mia. Once Alci and I get married..." You trailed off a bit, smiling at the thought of Alcina in a wedding dress. "If you two get married." Mia corrected, causing you to drop your smile. "Oh no, we're getting married." You corrected Mia, pointing to the engagement ring from Alcina on your hand. "(Y/N), she's a nearly 10 foot tall vampire countess who has nearly killed you. Why do you want to marry her?" Mia's voice showed her frustration.
Why do I want to marry Alcina? Well, there's a simple answer.
"Because she means so much to me. Yeah, she gutted me once, but we got over that. When I kiss her and her fangs touch my lips..." You smiled again. "She could give into her instincts at any moment." Mia grumbled, crossing her arms and leaning against the counter. "My mother loves (Y/N) too much to devour them. She would have to be really really hungry before she attacked. Eating their leg was hard to convince her into doing at first." Bela broke into the conversation, siding with you. "Her eyes were filled with so much love." You sighed softly, the pain and yet happiness of the moment filled your mind. "What if you didn't give her your leg?" Mia sat on a clean counter beside Bela. "Then I don't know if she would still be here. I know I would've went with her." You felt your heart shatter at the thought of her dying, shaking off the feeling. "But she's here and I'm going to be marrying her. I'll become (Y/N) Dimitrescu and she will forever have me." You smiled, putting the cleaned dishes on a rack to dry. You looked over, seeing Alcina spying on the conversation. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
As the timer went off, you pulled out the pastries and let them cool off before frosting some of them. You felt Alcina give you a kiss on the cheek, bringing a smile to your lips. Bela snatched a cream puff, grinning before popping it into her mouth. Mia went to her side of the kitchen, preparing dinner for the night. Normally, they'd be eating human flesh and you'd get a different dinner. However, when you looked over you could see Mia working on something. Bela seemed to be helping her with it too. Normally, maids would be cooking, but Mia wanted to show off.
Don't pull any sick tricks.
As dinner rolled around, everyone took their seat. You had brought up a couple bottles of wine from the cellar, one of blood the other being normal wine. As you all sat down and began to eat, you occasionally glanced around to see how everyone was doing. Mia was staring at you. You grabbed Alcina's hand from under the table, wanting to comfort her and yourself. As you took a bite of your food, you noticed a smirk on Mia's lips. You put your fork down, confused and concerned.
"What did you do?"
