Cassandra helped you bring in your bags, smiling as she was happy to have you home again. The week had went by slowly, feeling like months. Cassandra caught her mother coming into the light as you came into the castle. She could see the hunger, sadness, and love in her mother's eyes. Estella was being carried in Bela's arms, Daniela with a big hug. Cassandra could feel Eclipse gently touching her hand, keeping her calm as her mother gently reached out, watching you take her hand and give a soft kiss.
I want everything to be peaceful like this moment.
Cassandra kept an eye on you and Alcina, watching the two of you talk and laugh. When you leaned to give Alcina a kiss, she pulled away, the happy atmosphere swiftly turning depressive. You pulled out the souvenirs you got everyone. A hoodie for Daniela that simply said "Yes, I'm Very Sweet" with a little black bird, a shirt with a beetle pattern for Bela, and a big soft blanket for Cassandra with little dinosaurs all over.
I've been needing a blanket!
Cassandra bounced with excitement as she kept spying, seeing a big beautiful robe for her mother. It was specifically tailored for Alcina with chinchilla fur on the inside. "And don't worry, the chinchillas used died of old age. They lived a full life." You quickly explained to Alcina, smiling.
Cassandra could see the sadness in your eyes, how you desperately wanted to kiss your wife just once. It pained Cassandra to see you so sad. When Alcina looked away, your smile faded into a look of gloom, your smile returning when she faced you again.
You're trying so hard to be a glimmer of hope.
Cassandra found a better spot to hide in, able to see her mother's gaze. She put on the robe, giving you a hug. Cassandra bristled with frustration when her mother didn't give you a kiss, seeing the sadness so blatant in your eyes. Cassandra could feel tears welling up in her eyes, angry that her mother wouldn't give you a kiss.
Just fucking kiss them, mother! They need you to fucking kiss them!
Cassandra watched as Alcina went to give you a kiss, seeing the hope in your eyes as you leaned to meet her in the kiss, but she swiftly pulled away, eyes brimming with fear of what could possibly happen. The heartbreak in your eyes was apparent, making you turn to face the fire, away from her.
As her mother left, Cassandra swooped in and pulled you into a hug, listening to you sob softly as Alcina left the room. Cassandra kept her ears pricked, gently shushing you when her mother came near the room. She knew you didn't want her to hear you crying, not wanting to guilt her.
You've broken your spouse's heart, mother.
Cassandra gave you a squeeze, your sobs slowly dying down. When she heard you give up every tear that you could give, Cassandra gave you a box of tissues and listened to you quietly whimper. Just as your crying had stopped, Alcina came back into the room, holding a basket. Cassandra could see the fear and sadness in her mother's eyes, then felt pride run through her as her mother finally gave you a kiss. It was just a peck on the lips, but Cassandra could tell that for you, it was everything you needed. "I want to go on a picnic with you, (Y/N). Just you and me to witness the harvest moon." Alcina offered. Cassandra watched you nod.
