that night josh texted my dad saying he's skip school tomorrow and work. that way my dad and i can be home and spend some time together.

i wake up and josh is already gone. i go downstairs and find my dad sitting at the counter. i go hug him.
you: y- you could've told me dad
jordan: i know. i just didn't wanna put that stress on you kiddo
i sit next to him and drink a glass of orange juice steven just poured me.
you: are you getting chemotherapy?
he nods.
you: is it working?
he doesn't say anything.
you: dad?
jordan: no. not really.
i lean against his shoulder.
you: you're strong. you- you'll get better. i know it
he stays quiet then opens his laptop.
jordan: so in my will i have the company going to you. are you sure you still want that? i know you don't like that type of stuff- like working in an office.
you: you started that yourself so of course i would take it if something were to happen to you. ya know- like keep it in the family
jordan: so your sure?
i nod.
you: how long ago were you diagnosed?
he sighs.
jordan: around 8 months ago.
you: a- and the chemo isn't working??
he shakes his head no. i know that obviously means that he's struggling.

i've spent all day with him just enjoying every second of it. for the past hour we've been watching tv on the couch.
you: why did you pay josh to like me?
jordan: i- *sighs* i was never around. your almost 18 and you had never had friends or a boyfriend. i just wanted to make you happy. but he stopped taking the pay and did it because he wanted to. don't be mad at him. i told him he couldn't say a word about it. but trust me. he loves you. i've seen the way you look at eachother.
i smile a tiny bit. i wanna be mad but- he only did that so i would have someone. and somehting really great came from all of it. so i guess i'm alright.

you: dad i just want you to know that i always love you. i don't say it enough
jordan: you don't need to say it. i know. i love you too kid
he hugs me.
