Chapter 44: Heart rate

My mother was feeding me the food that the doctor allowed me. I still cannot moved because my body was getting weak day by day. Kahit na wala akong ganang kumain, pinilit ko pa ring sumubo ng pakonti-konti. Kailangan kasi ito ng aking katawan.

Nasabi na rin sa akin ni Zester na nakausap nya na raw ang kapatid ko. Ngunit hindi niya napapayag ito. Lubha akong nalungkot ng marinig ito kay Zester. She must have been loathing us since she was very young, especially to our parents.

Ngunit gagawin daw ni Zester ang lahat upang mapapayag nya ito. Hindi niya na inaasahan na makakausap nya pa ang kapatid. She hated us and the least person she could meet and talk to is no other than us.

I was forced to fight my condition for my family, friends and the people who loves me. My mind and willingness are strong but my body differ from them. Hindi ko alam kung hanggang saan ang kaya kong abutin. Pero hinihiling ko na kung sakaling mawala ako sa mundo ay makita ko ang kapatid ko kahit sandali lang. Sapat na 'yon sakin.

A phone rang over the table beside me. It was mine. My mother grabbed it look over the screen. "Tumatawag si... Luice."

Ilang beses na akong nakatanggap ng tawag mula kay Wendy at Luice. Pinadalhan din nila ako ng mga text messages ngunit wala ni isa roon ang sinagot ko. I reject all their calls. I never replied. But i guess, this is the right time i should talk to them and tell my situation.

"Kakausapin ko po siya." binigay ni mama ang phone ko.

I accept the call.

"Hello? Raixelle?"

"Luice..."

"Mabuti naman sinagot mo na ang tawag ko. What happened? Why were you not answering our calls?"

"I-Im sorry." yun lang nasabi ko dahil ayokong malaman nila ang dahilan. One lie is enough to add more of it.

"Wendy's with me. Pati na rin si Monti at Priston. While Euan..." she paused. "S-Still locking up his self in his room."

It made my heart squeezed a bit. Hanggang ngayon apektado pa rin si Euan dahil sa mga sinabi ko. "Tell him i'm sorry."

"Ano bang nangyayari sayo Rai? Euan told us everything you said to him. It was unlikely you to say those words." i heard Monti's voice.

My mother gestured to excuse herself for awhile. I just nod and see her leaved.

"It was hard for me to explain everything to you guys. But i do apologize for every hurtful words i have said to him. I didn't mean to say those things to him. I just..." tila may bumara saking lalamunan. "It's for his safety... that's all i can say."

"What do you mean by his safety? Is his life in danger?" It was Priston's.

I was caught by my sudden cough.

"Are you okay there?" Wendy's voice.

Natigilan ako sa tanong nito.

"Hello Rai? Ayos ka lang ba?" pag-ulit nito.

Huminga ako ng malalim. "I-I'm not."
