(Full disclaimer, this is not very accurate to the characters, and you obviously don't have to read this if you don't like the ship. Homophobia of any sort will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate block for so much as a passive comment.)

(It's about a week after Oliver's coming out, in Oliver’s bedroom (he does not share a room in this fic just for simplicity reasons))

A small sigh. This was the first sound that echoed through the room in several minutes, the sound not upset but not happy.

"You alright?" Oliver glanced over, bringing his eyes up from his book.

"Yeah, just thinking…." Patrick said back, looking out the window.

"What about?"

Oliver closed his book after marking his place, sitting it on the bedside table and looking at Pat.

"Nothing important, just, y'know, some stuff…." He waved him off, a distant sort of look in his eyes, obviously having some kind of internal dialogue.

"Even stuff that isn't important can be lighter to carry if you talk about it," the blond boy offered, getting a small half-smile from Patrick as he finally looked at him with weary eyes.

Another sigh, "I guess you got a point. It's dumb.... I'm just tryina, y'know, figure out if I maybe like someone."

"I get that," Oliver chuckled back, looking down, "took me a while to realize I like my person."

"You didn't even know you were bi yet though, at least you had a reason to be unsure…" He sighed, suddenly slightly downtrodden.

"Hey. There is nothing wrong with taking time to figure that stuff out. Feelings suck and they're unnecessarily complicated." Oliver spoke firmly.

Patrick looked at him again as he said that, "yeah… Been a while since I've liked a guy as more than just like, a shallow crush that's lasted a few days…."

Oliver hummed in understanding, silence following once more.

"So…. How's things with your guy?" Pat asked curiously, changing the subject as a distractor for himself.

The blond shook his head, a slight blush forming with a furrowed brow, "there's nothing going on and there won't be anything going on at any point."

"Why?" The older asked, slightly sad for his friend, "is he straight?"

"N-No…." Oliver's face turning a slightly brighter red, "j-just, I don't know, we're really different, basically opposites, we're good as friends but I'm not sure a relationship could work…"

He turned his head a little more, mumbling, "plus, it's possible he may like someone else…"

"Hey, any guy would be lucky to have you as a boyfriend, just because you guys may be different doesn't mean it can't work. And, besides, if he does like someone else, he doesn't know what he's missing," Patrick said sympathetically with a small smile.

Crimson covering his face, Oliver turned and looked away, grabbing his book from the table again, "s-sure, whatever…."

The brunette laughed at his reaction and how flustered he had gotten, but the second he felt the fluttering in his chest and strange squirm in his stomach, his heart dropped, for he knew he had his answer to the question that had sparked this conversation in the first place.

And boy, was it an answer that would cause him trouble.
