Within the Stars

"Wow...." Sara said breathlessly, looking up at the clearest nighttime sky she had ever seen as the blond behind her removed the hands that had been covering her eyes, moving them instead to rest carefully onto her shoulders.

Oliver grinned, looking at her starstruck eyes, "Like it?"

Without breaking her gaze towards the great beyond which she stared into deeply, she beamed, "Oliver, I don't just LIKE it, this is literally perfect!!"

"I'm glad," he gently squeezed her shoulders, face softening into a delicate stare of love.

Finally turning away from the bright light of the stars and full moon, she offered a genuine smile, "This is the most effort anyone's ever gone to to do something special for me. How did you even find this place?"

"Word of mouth." He smiled, "It's been slowly getting around school as a nice date spot. Some people have been slightly more crude about it but I just heard the view of the stars is nice here. No light pollution so they're super clear and bright. It's perfect for constellation spotting."

"Got any super romantic constellations to show me?" The ginger wiggled her shoulders teasingly as the two sat down on the blanket that Oliver had slung over his shoulder on the way over.

He hummed for a moment thinking before raising an eyebrow, "I can think of one..."

"Tell me, tell me!" She grinned widely, eyes shining with excitement.

"Those two, up there," he pointed, scooting closer to be pressed right up at Sara's side as she looked up as well, "those are Queen Cassiopeia and King Cepheus. It's a bit of a long story, but basically, in Greek mythology, Cassiopeia, the Queen of ancient Ethiopia, ticked off Hera, the Queen of the Gods, and so to punish her she tied her to her throne and banished her into the stars. Her husband, King Cepheus, was overcome with grief, so he begged Zeus, King of the Gods, to send him to the stars too so he could be with his wife, and eventually after a lot of crying and begging, he agreed, and now they're up there together, in love for all eternity."

Sara smiled, looking upwards for another few moments and admiring the pair of constellations before turning to face the boy beside her. He turned to look at her as well, their noses barely inches apart as her smile deepened further.

"I'd prefer if we didn't tick off the gods, but if there's anyone I'd want to be stuck in the stars with forever, it'd be you," she murmured, taking his hand and squeezing it, him softly replying, "I'd want to be stuck with you too."

And with the sky brightly alight above the pair, they leaned in, letting their lips lock with one another, sealing their fate within the stars.
