"Alright, have fun!" Sara Lin joked towards the blue-eyed brunette who had just excused himself to the restroom, getting a slight playful roll of the eyes before he continued to walk away.

For a moment she began to walk around, nodding her head to the unfamiliar song as she took in the surroundings of the lively decorated room. As the girl glanced off to the side, she noticed a particularly familiar boy mostly standing off to the side, though by himself, oddly enough. After all, he didn't seem much of the type to attend a school dance just for the heck of it. Seeing him in his formal clothing made her heart race, and despite her being there with another guy (though only as friends), her heart would still always find its way back to the boy she currently couldn't remove her eyes from, and this particular moment of admiring his attractiveness most definitely struck such a chord within these feelings. Swallowing the lump in her throat and the nerves that accompanied them, she tugged at her short, off-shoulder black-and-white dress slightly as she began to make her way over to him.

Within a few moments, he notices the ginger walking towards him, giving a nod as an acknowledgement to her presence, making the smile on her face widen as she stepped next to him where she'd be out of the way of any passers-by, nervously brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she spoke just loud enough to be heard over the music, "Hey!"

"What's up?" He asks casually, turning to face the girl as he leaned against the wall.

"Uh, not much...! You look nice!" She chuckled out awkwardly, hands behind her back, looking down at her feet, bejeweled by the wedged heels that gave her an additional few inches of height.

A small grin spreads across his cheeks as both his voice and eyes soften a bit, "Thanks." Then giving her a slight glance up and down, "So do you."

"Thanks...." Sara murmurs happily as she bites the inside of her cheek, trying not to grin like a total idiot at the smallest of compliments, likely only said out of politeness in response to her comment (or, at least this was her logic), before realizing yet again, "Oh, yeah, where's Joe? I thought he was coming? I assume he's why you're here?"

The blond boy shrugs, "Yeah, I came 'cause he asked me to, I guess he wanted to get me out of the house or something. He's here, just went off to the bathroom a minute or two ago."

"Oh, alright," she accepts before going quiet.

The shared silence quickly grows awkward, until Oliver speaks up, "Actually, where's your date....? I thought you were here with Patrick?"

"I am, uh, p-platonically, of course... But uh, he also just ran to the bathroom so I thought I'd just.... Come say hi..!" She replies, changing to a more apologetic tone as she adds on, "I would've said hello earlier but I hadn't even seen you..."

"Don't worry about it," he says, brushing it off.

A tense sort of silence follows this for some unknown reason, though a few seconds later a slower paced song begins playing, making Sara Lin close her eyes as her lips press together tightly at the sheer irony of the timing. The two watch people begin to pair up, though with him not having a date and Sara's "date" still missing, they're both simply left awkwardly standing there.

With a second or two, the older girl takes a sharp breath in, and without much thinking, quickly blurts out, "Doyoumaybewannadancewithme?" (A/N: She's saying "do you maybe wanna dance with me?" really fast in case anyone's having trouble reading that :))

Oliver looked down at her, seeming almost surprised that this had just come out of her mouth, wearing an expression similar to that which he had worn when the girl had asked if he had already had his first kiss a few months prior, though there seemed to be something much softer behind his expression as he questioned in a flustered haze, "Uh, l-like, slow dance...?"
