"Sometimes things just get so confusing...." Sara mumbled to herself, though her best friend beside her clearly heard as they sat together on the bench.
He looks at her and raises an eyebrow, "Oliver again?"
"Yeah! He always confuses me and makes me question myself. Over.... And over.... And over again....." She groans, shoving her face in her hands.
"The whole 'do I like him' debate?" Patrick asks once more with a small grin forming.
"Yeah..." The ginger girl murmured quietly, "how can someone make you doubt yourself constantly just by existing?"
He goes quiet for a moment, "you think you'd want to date him?"
"I don't know anymore..." She sighs, laying her head back, "I've never really known what I wanted when it came to him...."
"Okay, well... Theoretically, imagine he asked if you'd kiss him, or asked you out or something. What would you do?" The boy asks with a tilt of the head.
Sara remains silent for a second, seeming to be thinking it over before answering, "I don't know... I feel like I'd just.... Panic. Maybe say yes just to give it a shot then just back out because I'm freaking out and don't know how in the world I got into that situation...."
"You think you may just.... Have like, a friendship crush? If you'd be that freaked out by him trying to make a move, y'know," Patrick offered with a shrug.
The girl picks up her head, looking out in front of her for a moment before questioning, "like, a squish? Platonic crush, like a desire to be closer friends?"
"Yeah, something like that," he confirmed, "you think it could be that?"
She hums in slight dissatisfaction, though she relents, "I guess it's my best answer right now... It doesn't really, like... Fully feel right, y'know? But it's the only thing I've got I suppose...."
Then suddenly, a vibration and two buzz sounds come from Sara's pocket in her jacket. She reaches in and pulls it out only to see the exact topic of conversation had messaged her. A small faint blush rises and her eyes widen before softening with a slight smile, making Patrick smirk as he glances at her screen.
"Let me guess, butterflies and your heart skipped a beat?" He questions, getting a hesitant nod a moment later.
For a moment she's silent as she stares at the name of the sender, and observing all the things that had unconsciously happened when she saw his name, she sighed again. She wished she didn't have to admit it, but it was the only thing that clicked.
Sara muttered to herself just loud enough for her grinning brunette friend to hear, "maybe it's not just a squish..."

Hey y'all!
Sorry this one was a bit short! I've actually been trying to stay a few days ahead on the challenge so I don't fall behind like I did last year, but I had a sleepover party for my friend's birthday and I do a lot of my writing by night so that threw off my stuff, so it was okay because I had stuff written in advance but it just made me stop being in advance lol, so I just wrote this one last night. I didn't really know what to do for this so I just straight up turned it into a vent fic for my real life lolAnyway, I hope y'all liked this story, please leave any ideas, prompts, thoughts, or constructive criticism in the comments, I love hearing your feedback!
