[A/N: Slight mature contact]
It has been at least three months since the war at the marine fort, things were fine but at the same time things weren't fine; [Y/N] stayed with Shanks and his crew after they found her there. [Y/N] didn't know where her crew was since she told them to leave without her; but through out all of the fighting [Y/N] was basically a walking shell for most of the part.
Her injuries were healed but her scars went deep, deeper than anyone could image in their own minds; she didn't speak much but she would say short words to the crew around her but her mind was always somewhere else, she would barely eat or drink anything but nothing to much that she would die from hunger. It just like that war and seeing so much death and tears just broke something inside of her and Shanks was deeply worried about her.
It was hard to believe that this girl he knew since a child filled with love and adventure in her heart and eyes, was now a shell with dull [E/C] eyes that held nothing but a former person he once knew. It broke his heart knowing that he couldn't help her with her deep scars that no one could see but he always made sure that he was always there for still keeping his promise when he held her shacking body that was covered in blood and scars.
It was now the middle of the night where the ship silently sailed through the open waters under the bright moon and stars. Shanks was in his quarters looking over maps on his desk making sure they were still on course for the next island; but his deep thoughts about the next island was broken when the sounds of gentle sobbing came to his ears, he knew it was [Y/N] so he dropped everything he was doing he left his room to go see [Y/N].
Knocking gently on the door before entering, the room was lit with a single candle that sat on the nightstand by her bed; seeing her lying in her bed curled up in a ball crying as quiet as she could to not let anyone know she was crying. Seeing her like this broke Shanks heart even more than it already was, he walked over to her closely placing his right hand on her shaking shoulder which made [Y/N] jerk a bit when she turned to see who was behind her, seeing Shanks there made her calm down but she didn't want anyone to see her like this broken and lost.
"Sorry...." she mumbled softly glancing away from him to hide her red eyes from crying.
"Sorry for what?" he asked as he sat on the edge of her bed still looking at her.
"For being like this" she said again still not looking at him.
Shanks sighed before placing his hand under her chin and making [Y/N] turn to look at him, seeing her eyes a little red and puffy from crying made him wonder how many nights [Y/N] cried alone without anyone knowing.
"Its fine to feel like this, its not always easy out on these waters; but you shouldn't be crying and locking yourself away from the world and other's around you. That's why you have friends, why you have me to help you" Shanks said to her in a tender voice as he placed his hand on her cheek wiping away the tear away that slid down her cheek.
"I just feel lost....." [Y/N] told truthfully as she leaned into Shanks touch.
"I know, but I'll be here for you always" Shanks spoke softly to her.
Once [Y/N]'s eyes met his eyes something seem to change between the two of them like lost in a trance for a moment when they both started leaning towards each other slowly until their lips met in the middle; letting a large spark spring to life between them both once the kiss happened.
Her hands clenched his white shirt pulling him closer to her as his hand held the back of her head also pulling her close to him; it was slow yet rough at the same time, feeling his tongue drift across her bottom lip asking for entrance she granted him. Letting his tongue dance with her which made [Y/N] let out a soft moan in the kiss which sped things up between them hearing her make that sound was something Shanks wanted to hear again and again, taking his right hand away from her head he let it drift down to her right hip giving it a squeeze which made her whimper a bit in bliss.
[Y/N] brought one hand up to his red hair running her fingers through it before tugging on it making Shanks let out a low groan from the touch, the warmth from his body gave her cold skin comfort and feeling her heart beat in her chest made her feel alive once again. Somehow knowing that they were meant for each other somehow in this crazy world of pirates and marines, even if they did try to fight these feelings they would only end up struggling in the end to fight this fate that couldn't be fought.
The burning feeling of their lungs broke them both apart from each other, taking in deep breathes as they both looked at each other in the eyes deeply still in that slight trances from before; before Shanks snapped out of it first letting his thought think that he just tried to take advantage of her state of heartbreak.
"Y-you need some rest" he said when he stood up from the bed making her look up at him.
"Shanks" she called out his name before he reached the door.
"We'll talk tomorrow, night [Y/N]" he answered the question she wanted to ask him but couldn't.
"Night Shanks...." she softly said watching him open the door and leave the room closing the door behind him.
Listening to his footsteps vanishing down the halls of the ship, she brought her knees up to her chest holding her legs there as she rested her shin on her knees still feeling her heart pounding from the kiss that she could still feel on her lips.
