Luffy x Reader [Request]

Freeing Dressrosa was a big accomplishment for Luffy and the other's, Rebecca was reunited with her sister [y/n] who was in slaved by Doflamingo; even with Rebecca embarrassing her sister with hugs. Luffy could see how much of a zombie she really was, she barely smiled or said a word to anyone; the smallest sign of any violence set her off to be cowering in the farthest corner of the room or out of the room completely.

It was late during the night when Luffy woke up for some reason which was normally rare when he slept; but seeing [Y/N] missing made him worry, getting up from where he slept, he went outside to find her. Remembering how Rebecca told Luffy how her sister loved the sea and always went to it when something was bothering her; so that's where Luffy went to look, heading to the shoreline where all the pirate ships sat since the navy had yet to arrive here in full force.

The sight of [y/n] sitting by the shoreline staring out at the sea calmed Luffy's mind, knowing she was safe and alright well maybe not fully alright but at least she was safe; Luffy walked over to her and sat down next to her not speaking since he knows she didn't wish to speak right now, and the silence was a comfortable one. Listening to the waves crashing into the rocks was a calming sound with a warm breeze coming from the ocean.

"I want to join your crew" [y/n] broke the silence around them by catching Luffy off guard when he looked at her seeing she still had a deep unemotional look on her face.

"You sure? I wouldn't want to drag you away from Rebecca and the others" Luffy asked, not really being his cheerful and pushy self when someone he liked wished to join the crew and sail the seas.

With [y/n] he somehow felt like he should be actually patient with her after what she has been through since he doesn't know what she has really be through; not to mention her family was still here and he didn't wish to just drag her away from them.

"I am, no matter how much I try all I can see is what used to be here, and my nightmares won't go away" [y/n] said hugging herself a bit tighter, shivering at the very memory of what she went through with Doflamingo before Luffy showed up.

"What about your family?" he asked turning his full attention to her seeing how she was reacting to those memories.

"They will understand; I left letters for them once we leave in the morning; please, Luffy I just want to be free" [y/n] spoke knowing her family wouldn't mind her leaving to go after her dream to sail the seas.

Her eyes finally met Luffy's which were filled with desperation, seeing that look made his heart ache knowing that she was hurting and wishing to be finally free from her shackles that were still there even though no one could see them; Luffy smiled warmly at her and wrapped his arms around her bringing her into a hug that she returned, the first ever hug she gave anyone really.

"I promise, we'll sail the seas together" Luffy made a promise to her while holding her in the hug already feeling his heart flutter at the very thought of being by her side forever on their journey.

"Thank you Luffy" she said feeling tears coming to her eyes, she thought she could no longer cry but hearing Luffy's promise to her made her heart start to warm up with the very thought.

When pulling away from the hug Luffy could see an actual smile growing on [y/n] face which made a small blush come to his cheeks when seeing her smile again no matter how small it was. He made another promise to himself that he would do anything, to make her smile; to see her smile he knew that he must return that smile back on her face, a smile that could brighten up a room and to warm anyone's heart and he will return her smile no matter what it took to make her smile while they sailed the seas together to fulfil their dreams.
