It was just another night at the Portage house in New York and you were just making some dinner for tonight after having a conversation with your oldest child Jasmine. You followed your mother's rule of no make up until fifteen or even fourteen, but Jasmine wanted to be older and grow up fast. But that was just how life was with children.

"Smells good in here" Ace said as he walked into the kitchen coming back from work, luckily he got off work early tonight being a fireman and all.

"Thank you, I'm going to poach the fish in the strew soon" you smiled as Ace gave you a kiss on the temple.

"Well, you might need a little more zest in it" Ace smirked at which you knew he always did this, whenever he could add something weird to anything he would do it.

"Ace I don't think so" you tried holding in your smile and laugh but it was hard not to.

"Yes, I mean home good is enough by itself but taste even better. But some lemon will bring it out more" Ace smiled again grabbing a lemon from the fridge, to cut up for the sauce you were stirring.

"Ace you're not putting anything weird in it are you?" you lifted a brow to him, when you turned your attention to him.

"No, just some lemon and sawdust" he joked when you busted out laughing which always was his goal each day from morning to night, making you laugh and smile.

"I heard from A.J you had a chat with Jasmine today" Ace brought up the chat you had with your twelve year old daughter.

"Well, she wants to wear makeup but she has to wait. But I don't blame her, I was the same way drove my mother crazy. I don't know why its always like that, when we're twelve we want to be sixteen when we're eighteen we want to be eighteen and when we can't wait until we were twenty-one" You smiled warmly knowing you were just like her at her age and didn't really blame anything on it; it was just the thought about her growing up so fast that you didn't like so much.

"Never had that problem, all I wanted to do was enjoy the age I was" Ace said while cutting the lemon in thin slices before smirking over towards you.

"You never wanted to be older?" you raised a brow since Ace always acted like a child mostly and it was rare to see his adult side come out.

"Not at all" he said returning his attention to cutting the lemon up.

"Then why is it, when you were sixteen years old. You showed up on my doorstep, dressed in one of you're brother's suits with a hat pulled over one eye and a sad little mustache penciled in" you walked over to him leaning against the kitchen counter remembering he did that when it was your first date together; you couldn't help the smile on your face remembering that night.

"Had nothing to do with looking old. I wanted to look like Duke Ellington" Ace spoke with a smirk when he looked at you.

"You were cute" you smiled brightly again with a giggle.

"You know I still have that hat upstairs in the room" he wiggled his brows at you which made you giggle again.

"Maybe you can use it later" you tease giving off your flirty gaze that made his heart jump every time.

"I think I can find the suit too" he smirked devilishly as you leaned closer to his face.

"You won't need the suit, I said later" you teased again with your smile on your face, before backing away from Ace before he could grab you and take you upstairs to the master bedroom.

You giggled again before going back to cooking as Ace chuckled again; that's when your youngest James came downstairs into the kitchen.

"Hey dad can I have a lemon?" he asked as he sat on the bar stool at the counter.

"Why?" asked a bit confused as to why he wanted to eat one.

"So I can eat it" he said back like it was just a normal thing to do for a kid.

"Honey aren't you think about oranges?" you asked when you looked over your shoulder at him.

"No, I'm thinking of lemons" he said still set on having a piece of lemon.

Ace just shrugged and slid a piece of lemon over to him; James took it and bit down on the lemon having the juice be sourer and good.

"Refreshing, thanks" he said with a smile before getting down from the bar stool and rushing off to go play with his twin brother A.J back upstairs again before dinner was ready.

"That's your child" you laughed since the boys took after Ace a lot more than people thought.

"I know" he chuckled before giving you a kiss on the lips, then returning to help finish dinner. It was never boring around here and you were glad it wasn't; being Married to Ace was the best thing that ever happened to you and you wouldn't trade it for anything in this world.
