Matt's POV: Once me and Gabby finished lunch, I put the dishes in the kitchen and then made my way back to bed so that we could hold each other. Looking at her as she held her iPad and sat up in bed. "What you looking at?" Gabby then smiled. "I am just setting up an alert for nice homes in the neighborhood. We can talk about that another time." I nodded and agreed with her. "Honestly, I was thinking of moving anyways. They are going to be raising the rent again." Gabby sighed when I said that. "Hey, that is not something you need to worry about okay?"
Getting in bed with Gabby, I went to grab a blanket and wrapped it around me. Gabby loves to cuddle up to me this way and I was for sure going to let her cuddle up to me right now. I want to just hold her close. And no, it's not just because she is pregnant. It's also because I missed her. I missed the feeling of her in my arms and her hand in mine. Moving onto my chest as we got back into bed with each other, Gabby laid her head down on my shoulder while I tugged the covers up. Rubbing her back, I went to kiss her head and smiled at her. "You comfortable?"
Gabby smiled when I asked her that. "Oh, extremely. Believe me when I say this...anything here in Chicago is better than what I was sleeping on in Puerto Rico. Here, we have air conditioning. I was so hot during the summer that I was scared I was going to pass out. It was ridiculous." I nodded and agreed with her, kissing her forehead while rubbing her back. "Well, I am just glad that while you are pregnant...you are going to be right here, safe in my arms where you have me to help and protect you." Gabby nodded when I said that and smiled.
"Honestly, I am glad that we are back together too. As much as I loved helping out in Puerto Rico, I was starting to miss Chicago." I smiled when she said that. "Anybody special?" Gabby then shook her head. "I missed Kelly for sure." I then looked at her. "Excuse me?" Gabby then went to kiss me softly. "But nobody as much as my husband, Captain Matthew Casey. By the way, I expect to get one of those calendars for Christmas." I then looked at her when she said that. "Uhm, you heard about that?" Gabby then laughed. "It was my group that organized it. Why do you think you were specifically asked to be Mr. February?"
I smiled when she said that before kissing her forehead. "Well then you are lucky that I already got one. They gave them out as the CFD Christmas gift for Captains this year. It's somewhere. Not sure exactly, I just put it down somewhere." Gabby then sighed. "I was hoping you would buy it considering it was my group." I then sighed and rubbed her back. "Had you told me, I would've not only bought one...I would've refused the bonus they paid me to be in it." Gabby then looked at me. "They paid you guys to be in it?" I nodded. "Yeah, nobody wanted to do it. So they made all the captains do it and we got paid a bonus."
Gabby agreed and understood. "Hey, I can give it back if you want me to." Gabby then shook her head. "No, keep it. We can use it when this little on here is born." I then smiled when she said that. "Promise me that you do not try and find the calendar. We do not need to scar our child with the sight of his or her daddy shirtless in his turnout gear." Gabby then smiled when I said that. "Oh, I know...that was a hot picture. Let's just say that I was blushing a lot when my group told me who Mr. February was. They all know that you're my husband."
I then looked down at her. "How?" Gabby then laughed. "You were my next of kin and emergency contact on all of my sheets." I nodded and understood. "Right, that makes sense." Gabby then smiled. "And down there, I was Mrs. Gabriella Casey. Puerto Rico's culture is very different than Chicago. Down there, if you are married...you will be addressed by your husband's last name all the time." I then smiled. "At least people knew my gorgeous wife was taken." Gabby then smiled at the thought. "You know, I want to go back someday. With you hopefully."
I nodded and agreed with her, rubbing her back before going to kiss her forehead again. "Someday, we will. I am just glad you are home now. Sorry but, I am not sure how comfortable I would've been with you being pregnant down there." Gabby nodded and understood. "I know, you would be freaking out. Heck, I bet you would've flown down there and dragged me kicking and screaming if you found out." I then sighed and nodded. "I would've said either you come back or get an abortion and stay down there. Sorry but...that would be the truth."
Gabby sighed when I said that. "I knew that in my heart. It's why I came back when I found out. I knew that I could never be down there and pregnant. And I didn't even know my plan for when I came back. When would I come back, during the first trimester? Right before I gave birth so you couldn't stop me from going through with it?" I then sighed and kissed her head, trying to calm her down. "Hey Gabby, relax okay? You are getting worked up for nothing. I am here and supporting you in this." Gabby nodded and agreed with me as I held her close.
"And that is exactly why I need to be here. You always know exactly when I am getting stressed. And that is why I need you with me when we are going through this." I smiled when she said we. "And that is exactly what I am glad to hear too. The we part. That's how it should've been when you first told me you wanted to try. And I am sorry I never agreed to do it while we were still here." Gabby nodded and smiled as she leaned up and kissed me softly. "Can you pass me the remote? I want to watch TV while I am all cuddled up to you. If we keep talking about this, I am going to get all hormonal." I nodded and agreed with her, going to grab the TV remote for her.
