Dawsey: Starting a Family Part 1

Chapter 6

Matt's POV: Once I finished in the washroom that night, I came out to bed to see Gabby laying down. I could see she was nervous though as she looked out the window from her side of the bed. With my side of the bed being closer to the windows, that would mean she would be looking at me the minute I got in bed and I loved that. I want to look into her eyes and give her reassurance that everything was going to be okay. Looking at her as I stood next to the bed, I just smiled at her. "God, you look nice sitting in our bed. I've missed you."

Gabby smiled when I said that and nodded as I went to join her in bed. Moving close to her, I went to bring her into my arms while feeling her slip her legs in between mine. Rubbing my chest as we held each other close, I smiled as I went to kiss Gabby softly and just whispered to her. "Gabby, I am here okay? I am with you. If there is a baby in there, I am going to do everything in my power to make sure that we get our dream life with our baby." Gabby smiled when I said that before moving to wrap her arm around my back.

Rolling over on top of her, I went to lean down so that I could kiss her softly. Gabby liked it when I did that and smiled while I held her close to my chest. Slipping her legs in between mine again, Gabby smiled as I just kept her so close to my body that there was no room for anything to be in between us. "God, the idea of us having a kid seems so crazy to me yet so right." Gabby laughed when I said that. "I know right? That was exactly why I thought you'd be okay with this. Matt, I want to hear you be called daddy again. That's why I want this."

I then looked at her when she said that. Thinking about being called daddy again just put a smile on my face that I knew wasn't going anywhere. "God, you are really good at this. The minute I heard you say that...I can picture our baby saying that. Honestly, this is crazy but...to be called that again is so tempting." Gabby smiled when I said that. "Matt, I know you are not a fan of this. And I know you are scared. But babe, I want you to think about this. What are the odds that I come back for one night? Then I get pregnant after trying for so long."

I nodded and understood what she meant. Before she left the first time, we tried for a couple months but nothing happened. And now, one night can lead to us getting pregnant? No couple can be this lucky. "Gabby, I've made up my mind. We are going to do this okay? But, I have conditions." Gabby then looked at me. "Are they deal breakers?" I then bit my lip. "They are but...just hear me out." Gabby nodded when I said that. "We get regular checkups. And if the doctor says that it's getting too risky...we need to put you first."

Gabby then looked at me. "And if I say that I think we should terminate, I want you not to hold it against me and respect my wishes. Gabby, we can figure out other ways to have kids. But loosing you is something I am not ready to risk. So, you need to promise me that you will respect my wishes that when I say the risk is too high...we need to put your life first." Thinking about it, Gabby moved close to me and just held me close. "Gabby, there's other ways of having a baby. We can do surrogacy okay? And there's many more options." Gabby agreed.

"Matt, I can see it in your eyes that you are scared as you say this." I nodded. "I am scared to loose my wife, the love of my life. Gabby, you need to know...if it comes down to you or out baby, I am going to put you first no matter what. Is that clear and are we in agreement with that?" Gabby smiled when I said that and nodded. "Honestly, I think that is fair. We both get exactly what we both want. I get to be pregnant as we try for our family. Meanwhile, you get to keep me safe and make the decision on whether we have a baby or not."

I nodded when she said that, hoping to god that she understands because I know this drove us apart last time. "And, one more thing..." Gabby then looked at me again. "You can't hold my decision against me. I want to be your husband Gabby, no matter what happens. I can't loose you and I love you more than anything in the world. So believe me when I say this, you will always come before this baby. You will survive this, I will make sure of that. But we are leaving it up to faith when it comes to our child." Gabby nodded when I said that and smiled.

Kissing her softly, I just smiled as I held her close. "God, this is going to be fun. Tomorrow though, I don't want to leave bed." I smiled when she said that. "We still going ahead with our celebration plans?" Gabby smiled when I said that and nodded as she went to play with my boxers. Going to take her underwear off for her, I smiled as I brought Gabby against me. "We're having a baby." Gabby smiled when I said that and went to kiss me slowly, ready for me to take her in my arms and make love to her that night. "I love you Gabby." Gabby smiled when I said that and agreed. "I love you too Matt, forever."

Taking it slow with her that night, I smiled as we celebrated that fact that we are expecting our first child together.
