Dawsey: Starting a Family Part 1

Chapter 63

Antonio's POV: After making my way into the firehouse to see Gabby, I went to find Matt's office so that I could check on the two of them. Walking over, I went to knock on the door and then saw him sitting next to Gabby while rubbing her back. "Just do a bit of breathing babe. He is probably going to be gone soon and we are going to be able to go back out there. I texted Cruz and asked him to tell me when he's gone." I then went to walk in and looked at Gabby. "Oh, he's already gone."

Gabby then looked up at me and smiled. "Thanks Antonio." She then got up and came to hug me. Rubbing her back, I went to remind her to breathe. "Remember sis, you need to breathe so that you and Matt can have this little one here." Matt smiled when I said that. "Exactly what I have been telling her since we got in here. You want to be an uncle don't you Antonio?" I then looked him them and hadn't even thought about that. "God, I would be an uncle. Wow."

I then looked at Gabby and checked her stomach. "That looks pretty big. How far along are you anyways?" Gabby then went to rub her stomach. "I think I am only 4 weeks along." I was shocked when she said that. "Wow, that's early. I would think you are further along based on how big you are." Gabby then turned to look at Matt and grabbed his hand. "We are actually thinking it's twins. I just don't see it since it doesn't run in our family last time I checked."

I then thought about it. "No, tia Maria Dawson Gonzalez from Texas has twins." Gabby then looked at me. "Right, I forgot about her." Matt then looked at Gabby and smiled at her. "Looks like it's a possibility then. It says that it has to run in your family for you to be able to have twins." Gabby nodded when he said that while holding his hand with their fingers intertwined. "You still stressed after seeing dad?" Gabby then sighed and nodded. "Yeah, he is a jerk sometimes."

I nodded and agreed with her. "I told him that. I told him that he should've came to live with me instead of you guys considering I was alone at the time. He shouldn't have imposed himself on you guys in the first place." Matt nodded when I said that. "Thanks Antonio." I smiled when he said that before deciding to sit on his chair. "Hey, we need to stick together during this pregnancy. Sure, I am just your brother but...I want a niece or nephew. Or even both."

Matt nodded when I said that. "Me too. I just like one of the names we are already thinking of. Matthew James Casey, Jr." I smiled when he said that. "A little cocky much." Matt then turned to look at me. "I was not the one to come up with it just to let you know." I then blushed, nervous. Looking up at me, Gabby smirked. "I want to name our boy that because he has the bravest, most loving and caring daddy in the world." Matt smiled when she said that, kissing her quick.

I then looked at them both. "I want to do whatever I can to make sure you meet your baby or babies okay. Whatever you guys need....just let me know okay? I am on your side through this all because I know what it's like to be a dad. And I know you guys were parents to Louie but...there's something you won't understand until you guys are parents to a biological child. There's just this connection you have with them right from birth that can't be taken away. I love the feeling."

That's when Matt went to grab his hot dog and just looked at Gabby. "Want some more?" Gabby nodded and went to take a bite before looking at him and just holding him close. "You sure that dad is gone Antonio?" I nodded and looked at her. "I promise Gabby, he left right after I confronted him. He should've never come in between you guys. I feel bad about that and you guys need to stick together right now. So, make sure you guys do that okay?" Matt nodded.

Matt then turned to look at Gabby and smiled at her. "Listen, how about we keep eating? Then, I want to take you home. I know you want to volunteer Gabby but...I am going to have to ask you to go home so we can put your health first. Gabby, as long as you are here...you are just going to think about the confrontation you had with your dad and that's not healthy." Gabby nodded and agreed with him. "You are right, we should head home when we are done."

Gabby then went to get up and hugged me. "Listen, you have a Merry Christmas okay Antonio? We are just going to eat and then we are going. I wish we could stay longer but...I am just not feeling it now that we've had that run in with dad. I hope you understand." I nodded and agreed with her. "Believe me Gabby, I get it. You guys have a good day. Feliz navidad to you both." Gabby smiled when I said that and nodded as she went to keep eating with Matt so that they could head home.

Meanwhile, I went to walk out so that I could buy myself a hot dog and then get going.
