Chapter 59 - Withdrawal

Tuesday, February 14, 2030, Kimetsu Academy: Nurse Kanroji's Office, 12:45 PM

Isekai, Aoi and Nezuko were waiting for Tanjiro to wake up from his sudden fainting. Within half a minute, he woke up. He asked what happened, and Aoi told him the whole spiel. "I can't believe that Muzan took Kanao away again... only this time, he succeeded," Tanjiro said. He could only begin to cry as Nezuko tried to comfort him. Isekai felt bad for neglecting Kanao, but he knew he had to say it. "Look... We need to take the demons down, man. I know that you're upset right now, but now's not the time to cry about it."

Tanjiro was about to shake up, open, and spray a whole can of fury at Isekai, but he stopped himself, as he knew he was right. "I just... I'm sorry, I care about her too much..." Tanjiro muttered. Nezuko put her hand on his shoulder, and said "We do too, onii-chan. We want her back as much as you do. But, the Slayers Corporation's vision is far more important than that of your girlfriend. I may not know how it feels to lose someone I love, neither do I have a date myself, but I know I'd hate to have that happen to me too."

Aoi then chimed in, saying, "We're going to figure out a way to get Kanao back. We can reverse her transformation, and you two can be together aga-" as Mitsuri stopped her. "...I'm sorry to break it to you... but there's no cure."

Isekai shed a tear, as he said, "Sorry, dude. But we're... we're going to have to kill her. There isn't any way we can save her. We've lost Kanao, and we can't do anything about it but put her out of her misery."

And there, Tanjiro went ballistic, taking a nearby scalpel and trying to kill Isekai with it, trying to prevent him from doing such a thing. He was able to react quick enough, and subdued his right arm with a downward elbow strike. "HAVE YOU GONE INSANE?! I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DID THAT, BUT YOU KNOW WE DON'T HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE! Look, man. Kanao's gone, and we can't and won't do anything about it."

After Tanjiro calmed down and gathered his composure again, they talked it out some more, and eventually, Tanjiro came to face the facts. They left the room without anyone being harmed, not counting Isekai causing damage to Tanjiro's right forearm.

6:00 PM, Kimetsu Academy Auditorium

Lovely music filled the vibe in the room, couples dancing on the marble floor. Some had chosen to come together, some pairs being Aoi and Inosuke, and Zenitsu and Nezuko had decided to take each other for the dance. Parents had come to visit, witness them and their dates dance with one another, and got to meet their parents. Kanae and Shinobu had met Tanjuro and Kie, and they were talking about happy things. Meanwhile, in a table secluded from most of the people, were a table that only Isekai and Tanjiro shared.

Tanjiro had drank up about 13 whole cans of cola, just trying to escape from the constant depression the events of today had brought him. Isekai decided to speak up first. "Dude, I understand that your girlfriend was taken from you, and you're not taking it well at all, but you HAVE to stop drinking now. Not only did you drink at least ten cans, but you're slurring so much on your words, and you're not even drinking alcohol. I'm worried about you, man. Look, if it was possible to cure Kanao, I would've sent an entire army against Muzan, the main objective being to retrieve her. But we haven't finished the creation of guns that could kill demons, and we can't capture a demon to try to experiment with it without having Muzan intentionally trigger his Blood Curse!"

Kanae, Shinobu and Tanjiro's parents overheard the commotion, and went over to the back. The first thing they see is a depressed Tanjiro, on his fourteenth can of cola, and Isekai, trying to talk him out of it while eating his sauced meat and rice. 

Tanjuro interrupted his talk. "Aha! Isekai and... Tanjiro...? Tanjiro, are you alright?" he asked. His eldest son didn't respond. He asked Isekai what's wrong. He told him the whole kettle of tea, and why he gave up trying to fight. 

"So it is... Kanao's been transformed into one of Kibutsuji's lackeys..." Tanjuro muttered. Kie could only try her hardest to help Tanjiro get through this tough time. Isekai then sighed, then said: "Sorry, man. I can't even find even the smallest, even the tiniest drop of extremely concentrated blood. Even then, we can't even acquire it in maximum purity, due to it always being exposed to air. Perhaps if a demon were to somehow disable the curse, maybe we could take them, but no one did. We're going to have to put her down. I mean it."

And the moment he heard "I mean it," he went insane. He threw the table aside and kicked away Isekai. After he stood back up, he yelled: "DUDE, WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM?!" as he leapt back, dodging another attack. Every other person there was watching this. After a few minutes, Isekai got back down on the ground, and Tanjiro tried to jump at him, ready to punch his skull in with a single strike.

"Oh God, I feel so bad for this..." he muttered, then charged a substantial amount of Chaos power, and took a deep breath. After Tanjiro got slightly closer, Isekai diverted the power to his lower left leg, and stomped on the ground. "Chaos Magic: Infernum!" he yelled as his foot hit the floor, a line of cracked floor forming in front of him, radiating with chaotic energy. It then detonated, immediately knocking out Tanjiro.

Chaos - Infernum (The user gathers a substantial amount of Chaos energy, and releases it with a single strike. On impact with living beings, the energy immediately detonates and creates no lasting effects on the organism. On impact with terrain, cracks on the ground form in a straight line in front of the user, length is desired [costs more energy for longer range], and the energy detonates after a 0.75 second delay. The part of the terrain that this is used on is self-repaired upon the attack's ending.)

Tanjuro caught Tanjiro, and carried him towards Mitsuri's office again. Nezuko ran up to him and asked, "What was that?!" Isekai answered with, "Tanjiro went insane again. There was no restraining him. I had to knock him out. Look, we need to bring down Kanao before your brother causes any more damage to this school. But first... is Upper Moon Five."
