Chapter 7 - Athletics Tournament (1/3)

Before the students were packing up to head home, Kanae piped up and asked her students: "Did Mr. Rengoku mention the Athletics Tournament? If yes, and if he didn't tell you when it begins, it starts this Friday!"

Today...

"Are you pumped for this, Isekai?" Tanjiro asked with a rather excited tone. Isekai just put his arms behind his head, replying with: "Not really. With my extremely potent magic, I might end up being quite lethal. In case I might be wrong, though, I'll participate. Kanao, what about you?"

Kanao just nodded.

Friday - September 5th

Kanae entered the classroom, ready to announce the rules for the tournament. "I hope your bodies and minds are all pumped up! The tournament is today! So like Mr. Rengoku explained, there will be three activities:

1. A race, where you have to get to the finish as quickly as possible, where the first sixteen will pass. You cannot use Breathing magic in this stage, as some may have breathing forms that boost their agility.

2. A hunting game, where you will grab a paper, and the item written on it is what you should find in a maze bigger than what Mr. Himejima carved out for your first activity. The first 8 to find their items will pass. You cannot use your breathing magic here, either.

3. General combat, where you can put your strength and Breathing Magic against each other! Only one winner will be decided there. The competition starts in a few minutes. Change into your P.E. uniforms and meet me over there." she explained as she pointed over to a large racing track.

At the racing track after everyone has changed...

"Hello everyone! I hope you're ready for the first challenge. I am Mr. Uzui, and I will be hosting this year's Athletics Tournament! Our first challenge will be a race. You cannot use your Breathing nor Blood magic, but you are able to use the terrain to your advantage, and you absolutely CANNOT skip obstacle courses.

Now, prepare yourselves!" shortly after everyone got into a readied position, Mr. Uzui began a countdown. "Three... two... one... GO!" he counted and yelled.

Kanao and Tanjiro burst off first, as they tried to avoid a lot of obstacles. There were holes, bouncy wrecking balls, and even machines shooting basketballs.

Zenitsu questioned these brutal machines that were designed to disrupt their progress, yelling: "ARE THEY TRYING TO KILL US?!"

"Quit being such a wuss and just run through them!" Yushiro said as he began evading the obstacles, but he fell in a hole he never saw. "GAAAAAH!" he yelled as he fell.

Muichiro and Tanjiro were running alongside each other, leaping and running on walls, attempting to avoid God knows what. Isekai knocked aside Kanao and threw her at the swinging balls. Aoi had just climbed out of a hole, and Murata was being hit by lots of basketballs.

Isekai had made it through the first course, huffing out: "Finally, through that long as hell obstacle course. Now, what is this one, a minefield?"

Mr. Uzui announced the second ronud of the track. "The second course is a minefield! With a little twist, of course. There are machines that spin slowly. Every other moment, four boxing gloves spring out of them, knocking you over. The mines' moving force is powerful, but it will do nearly no harm, minus fall injuries."
