Chapter 102 - VS Rui: REMATCH

Irohazaka Route, July 5th, 2030, 12:11 AM

After Kaigaku got sent flying, he eventually landed on a bush. "Ow, ow, ow... man... I think I would have rather hit the ground than on this bush... oh, God, one of the branches is literally up my ass right now..." he mutters, groaning as he got off the bush. "Okay, I just gotta find the Kizuki member and that girl..." Kaigaku says to himself, walking in a random direction.

After five minutes, he hears a girl talking. "...what're you planning to do about them? Father's fending them off right now. You're the most powerful of us, right? Please, kill them yourself!" the girl begs. Kaigaku's listening in from behind a big rock that fully concealed him.

"What did I tell you about changing back to your true look?" a male's voice rhetorically asks angrily. "Wait, no, Rui! Don't- ga-agh!" the girl begs, yelping in pain midway. Rui punished her for returning to her "true look".

"...you know, it's rude to eavesdrop, slayer," he utters, referring to Kaigaku. "What...? He knows I'm here?"  he questions. "Step out, now." Kaigaku stood up, and revealed himself. "What is your name?" the boy asks. "Kaigaku Inadama, member of the Demon Retribution Front," he answers.

"Kaigaku. Why are you here? You didn't kill my father, did you?" Rui asks, folding his arms. Kaigaku shakes his head, and explains that he was blown away, and landed here. "Leave, and you can stay alive. This is between me and her. We share an unbreakable bond, because we are siblings," he says, facing away from him.

"I'm not one to talk about bonds, given how I'm a huge asshole (and an only child), but isn't that NOT how siblings should treat one another? I don't exactly feel any genuine love between you two. Is it fake?" Kaigaku continues, putting his hand on the sword's grip.

"What did you just say?" Rui questions, his eyes contracting. Kaigaku felt a change in the air. "I'll give you a minute to take that back. Take back what you said, and I'll make your death swift," Rui demands, strings in his hands. "Bitch, you think I'm taking any of that back? I'm not afraid of your scrawny ass-" he insults Rui, before he realizes what's coming to him. He evades the attack, but his cheek is slashed.

"Those strings... they're sharp...!"  he internally comments. "So? Will you take it back? Or do I have to dissect you piece by piece?" Rui asks, still angry. "Still not," Kaigaku replies. "Fine then, I'll make this painful for you," Rui says, sighing.

They go into a battle, with Kaigaku dodging his attacks repeatedly. At one point, he tried to swing his sword and try to cut the string, but the string sustains the hit without even getting chipped. "Wait, what?" Kaigaku questions, confused.

"His strings... they're even tougher than that bulky demon's skin!"  Kaigaku comments, jumping backward. "So... I finally found you. You're the Twelve Kizuki member, aren't you? You're what they described the Kizuki member to be - a small, young boy," Kaigaku asks, looking at Rui. He doesn't answer. "Run. Help father kill the other two slayers," Rui commanded. The girl nodded and left the scene.

"YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAY THIS TIME!" Kaigaku yelled, throwing his sword. Unfortunately, it was blocked by more of Rui's strings. "Hey, don't lose your focus, slayer. I am your opponent, not her," Rui said, waving. Kaigaku prepared a stance, and got ready for battle.

He instantly charged forward, and hit his neck easily. But, he realized that his sword didn't even make a dent in his neck. "My neck... is tougher than any of the strings I can manipulate. If you can't even cut those threads, you won't even be able to make a dent on my neck," Rui explains, giving Kaigaku a heavy knee kick to the gut.

He was sent flying, and he was tumbling on the ground, and eventually crashed onto a tree. "Oooh... that hurt like hell... Damn... he's strong..."  Kaigaku commented, groaning as he got up. "I just... need to hold off... until Zenitsu and Inosuke can get here..."  he thought on, drawing his sword.
