Chapter 7 - Athletics Tournament (2/3)

After the break...

Mr. Uzui piped up, ready to announce the next activity. "Alright, everyone! Mr. Uzui back again, and we're beginning the second contest! Alright, first-years, grab a paper!"

Each student got a paper, stating a random item. 

Tanjiro - ガラス球 (Glass Orb)

Kanao - 消灯トーチ (Unlit Torch)

Zenitsu - メモ帳 (Notepad)

Inosuke - 刀鞘 (Sword sheath)

Ozaki - チョコレートの袋 (Bag of chocolate)

Murata - 餅 (Mochi)

Isekai - カウベル (Cow bell)

Makomo - さびたパイプ (Rusty Pipe)

Sabito - 鍋 (Saucepan)

Nezuko - 鬼マスク (Demon mask)

Muichiro - 偽の切断された頭 (Fake severed head)

Yuichiro - チキンレッグ (Chicken leg)

Yushiro - ダイナマイト (Dynamite)

Susamaru - マリボール (Mari ball)

Yahaba - 仏真珠 (Buddha pearls)

Aoi - 任意の色のヤーンボール (Yarnball of any color)

Reactions to their required items...

Aoi muttered: "Doesn't sound that difficult..." overlapped by Susamaru cheering: "Yay! I love mari balls!"

Yahaba scratched his head, uttering: "Buddha pearls? I don't even know what those look like..."

Yushiro was freaked out, loudly asking: "...IS THIS EVEN SAFE?" as the two mint-haired twins softly muttered: "Interesting item choices..."

Nezuko wore her skeptical looking, uttering: "...weird..."

Makomo and Sabito, in unison, asked: "Why would they- ah, whatever..." as Tanjiro was freaked out, muttering: "I hope I don't drop it..."

Kanao sighed in relief, saying: "Thank God it's unlit..."

Zenitsu was slightly weirded out about his item, muttering: "Oooookay..."

Inosuke got excited about his item, lightly yelling: "SWORD SHEATH?! I HOPE THERE'S A BLADE INSIDE IT! FWAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Murata rubbed his stomach, thinking about mochi. "Oooh... just thinking about mochi makes me hungry..."

Ozaki cried a little, asking: "WHY WOULD YOU GIVE ME THIS ITEM TO LOOK FOR?! I LOVE CHOCOLATE!"

Isekai muttered: "I loved playing with one of these when I was younger..."

Mr. Uzui saw that everyone was assigned an item to find, announcing: "Now that everyone has gotten their objective, I will now explain the rules.

1. The first eight people to place their items into these tables will move on to the next round, and the other half will see themselves out of the competition.

2. You cannot use Breathing nor Blood magic, and you cannot attack others, nor can you hide other items.

3. If you find your assigned item, you are free to keep it and do as you wish with it. Is that clear?"

All 16 contestants nodded as Ozaki blurted: "YES!"

"Now, then, BEGIN!" he yelled as he shot a blank-bullet gun.

Everyone rushed into the maze to find their item. Tanjiro found his immediately.

"That was easier than I thought..." Tanjiro muttered as he picked up the glass orb and returned it as Mr. Uzui announced"One contestant has already finished! Step it up, guys!"

Isekai and Zenitsu found theirs next after two minutes. Zenitsu was lost in the maze, while Isekai had found his way out, and placed his cow bell on the table.

The loud man was a little shocked, announcing: "Surprisingly quick, another has finished! Hurry up, kids. Six spots left!" he said. The crowd gasped in shock and started tensing up.

Ozaki had found a bag, but it was just full of rocks. She pouted a bit as she walked away. Kanao was the next to finish, as she placed her stick. "Five spots left." Mr. Uzui announced. After seven minutes, Zenitsu and Inosuke left the maze next, and placed down their items.

"Three spots left!" Mr. Uzui called.

Yahaba and Nezuko got out next after six minutes. Yahaba placed his pearls on the table, and Nezuko placed her mask.

Mr. Uzui slammed his hands on his desk, announcing: "One last person! It seems like Yuichiro and Yushiro are battling for eighth place as the two try to find their way out!"

The two boys were not holding back on their agility. They both got out at the same time, and reached for the spot together.

Mr. Uzui gave his announcement for the eighth place's winner. "And the eighth place winner is..." he said as Yushiro's and Yuichiro's eyes were closed in fear. He continued. "Muichiro Tokito!"

"Wait, WHAT?!" they both said in shock as they looked up to their right, to see Muichiro placing down his fake severed head onto the table.

Muichiro said: "Sorry about that, but I'm not missing my chance to throw some fists." he said. Yushiro and Yuichiro both had anger marks on their heads, and walked away angrily.

"The leaderboard will now share the stats!" Mr. Uzui announced.

1st Place - Tanjiro Kamado

2nd Place - Isekai Mizuki

3rd Place - Kanao Tsuyuri

4th Place - Zenitsu Agatsuma

5th Place - Inosuke Hashibira

6th Place - Nezuko Kamado

7th Place - Yahaba

8th Place - Muichiro Tokito

"I hope the ones who were eliminated had a fun time. Thank you lots for participating! Now, the final activity, will be General Combat! We will now reveal the brackets for the first round." he announced, activating a screen that revealed the brackets.

Kanao Tsuyuri VS Zenitsu Agatsuma 

Nezuko Kamado VS Isekai Mizuki

"Now, have a fun time, and be pumped for this show of powers!" he shouted out as the crowd cheered in excitement.
