At the Foot Clan lair
Karai walked past Light's room, holding a candle when she heard crying from her room.
                              "Light?"
"I'm sorry.... I'm sorry..." She kept repeating as she cried in her sleep.
                              "Wake up.. Wake up"
Light woke up, crying and she reached for Karai for comfort.
                              "Hey, hey"
"It's all my fault.... I'm sorry..."
".. what did I do to make you that angry?"
"You love Leah more than me... You treat her like she's your daughter.... You wish she was..."
"Light, I don't love her more than you, there are things I can talk to her about.. Kinda easier than you but does that mean I love her more? No!"
"Yeah right! Ever since you first met her, you stared at her.. Comfort her when she's sad, give her gifts... You even did her make-up for the spring fling..."
"I don't mean to do it on purpose, you have been independent since you were.. What? 7? 8? I figured, hey, you just didn't need my help that much but when I think you do.. You don't"
"Because I don't need a general! I need a mother! Someone I can feel like who loves me and trusts me with my choices"
                              "Alright"
Light cried harder, "Leah's gone... It's my fault..."
                              "It's not.."
The two hugged each other for most of the night, it was the closest they have ever been in a long time since Light was an infant. It made Karai remember that Light was still a child, she wasn't grown up yet.
".. how about we do something together tomorrow? It could be just us or we bring dad and your boyfriend and turn it into a family thing?"
"Just us, please?" She had never said please to Karai before, it was kinda a good ego stroke for her.
                              "Deal"
