Lexie's pov
I woke up to the sound of my phone going off and for a second my heart stopped and my mind started racing again. Who's calling me at the time? Wait what time is it anyway? Ugh I don't know but I don't want to find out if the person who woke me up from my sleep is my new nightmare. My phone kept going off and I couldn't find the strength in my body to reach over Jaden and grab it, a few minutes later Jaden groans after hearing my phone keep going off and he grabs it without thinking twice and answers it while my mind keeps me trapped.

Jaden: hello (says groggy)
?: hey Jaden it's James I know it's early but I was hoping if lex wanted to practice one more time before we have to get ready for competition
Jaden: what time is it?
James: eight
Jaden: okay let me ask her and she'll call you back in a minute
James: okay thanks Jaden
Jaden: hmm no problem (hangs up and looks at Lexie)

Jaden: are you okay? (Turns on the little lamp by the bed)
Lexie: yeah why wouldn't I be?
Jaden: you didn't want to answer your phone and your hands are still shaking (looks at her hands)
Lexie: oh (looks at them) I didn't even notice
Jaden: lex are you sure you want to compete today? You don't have to if you don't feel like it
Lexie: n no I want to no I need to compete today... I have given Jake way to much power and I won't let him have anymore, this is my day and I won't let him ruin it
Jaden: okay just making sure, so I am going to assume you are going to practice with Jake then?
Lexie: yeah
Jaden: okay how long?
Lexie: just an hour I still need to get shower, get dressed, do my hair and makeup you know all that
Jaden: okay
Lexie's pov
I got off the bed and started walking to my suitcase and pulled out a simple pair of black leggings with a sports bra, brushed my teeth, put my hair in a ponytail ate a pop tart and started walking to the ballroom.

Jaden's pov
After Lexie left I laid back down and tried to fall back asleep but my mind wouldn't let me because I am worried about her again. I mean I always worry about her but not as much as I used to however with Jake being back and sort of unpredictable I can't help but be worried again. I took a few deep breaths to calm my nerves and then laid my head on Josh's chest and wrapped my arms around him.

Josh: (mumbles) you okay?
Jaden: yeah let's just go back to sleep (closes his eyes)
Scene change
Lexie's pov
James and I practiced our routine full out for an hour with no mistakes so we were hoping it would be good enough for the judges. I tried to pour in as much emotion as I could into the dance without breaking down and hopefully I'll be able to control it better when we hit the stage.

James: hey lex you know what I was thinking
Lexie: what?
James: what if you breakdown after the song ends, I know that sounds insensitive as fuck but it might really sell it for the judges because they'll be able to see your real emotion and understand the dance
Lexie: I don't know James.. People are going to be recording us and it might not look professional, and I can't guarantee I am going to be able to pick myself up and walk off stage...
James: so maybe not a full breakdown but a few tears just think about it and then whatever happens on stage happens
Lexie: I am glad my situation that includes pain and trauma is your inspiration (rolls her eyes)
James: it sounds fucked up when you say it like that
Lexie: there's no other way to say it is there?
James: yeah think about it as taking back your power
Lexie: what do you mean?
James: think about it dancing is what makes you feel most confident and vulnerable at the same time right?
Lexie: yeah...
James: and it's because you finally let yourself let go, by channeling and letting go of your feelings you are not giving the cause any more power and your taking it back
Lexie: I have never thought about it that way but I guess your right
James: I know, I am always right
Lexie: shut up, I am going to get ready I'll see you later
James: okay see you later
Lexie's pov
I started walking back to the elevator and started thinking about what James said, about taking back power. I have never felt power with Jake if anything I have felt the opposite, I have let him scare me into submission so many times and it's not fair, I have spent the last few years of my life plagued by him even when he wasn't around it was like he still had a hold on me. I didn't want him to have that power but I also don't know how to get rid of it. I finally made it back to the hotel room and I saw everyone now awake including Justin and Clare who were sitting on the couches.

Everyone: morning
Griffin: how was practice?
Lexie: good I think we are ready
Kio: your going to kill it out there just trust yourself
Lexie: easier said then done, (looks at Clare) what about you and Ricky? You guys have your routine ready?
Clare: yeah if Ricky doesn't fuck it up we should be fine
Josh: are you guys going up against each other?
Clare: no Ricky and I are doing a bachata routine and lex is doing contemporary so we aren't in the same division category
Josh: oh that makes sense
Lexie: well I'd love to stay and talk but I need to start getting ready (starts walking away)
Jaden: wait
Lexie: what?
Jaden: sit and eat there's pancakes, you know a pop tart doesn't count as breakfast
Lexie: fine (rolls her eyes)
Ten minutes later
Lexie's pov
I got up from the table and started walking towards the bathroom room and took a quick shower since I was sweaty from practicing, then I dried myself off and decided that I would do my hair half up, half down and curl it. My hair was finally getting long again so I had that option, I left a few hairs to fall in front of my face so that I could curl those as well, it took me about thirty minutes then it was time for makeup which I am not very keen on but for competition it's essential. I started off with foundation, concealer, did a Smokey eye look with red lipstick, blush, mascara and decided that was good enough for now. Next I put on the costume and did a few spins in it just to see how it felt and I was fine, after I looked at the time and saw it was now eleven and I needed to check in with the judges in thirty minutes. I walked out of the room and saw now that all the boys were ready, I plugged in my headphones and started listening to the music to get into focus mode and tune everyone out. This was my first time performing on a stage since I was nine and the nerves are starting to settle in. I closed my eyes and tried a few breathing exercises when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

Lexie: yeah just trying to get into focus mode
Anthony: you sure?
Lexie: yeah

Lexie's pov
We made it to the ballroom and the boys went to their seats and I met up with miss Cassie so she could come with me to the judges table since she needed to be present. I got my number from the judges along with James since we were a partner duo and we went backstage with the rest of the class. By now Clare, Amy and Dani were also there but we were all kind of in our own little bubble getting ready to compete until my peaceful bubble was broken none other by Odalie herself.

Odalie: you know lex you should just drop out now instead of going out and embarrassing yourself because we all know who's going to win
Lexie: you know I can't wait for karma to come and bite you in the ass, your a little too cocky Odalie and you and I both know anything can happen in the competition world so I would bite my tongue if I were you
Odalie: if that's what you tell yourself to feel better then go for it but your fooling yourself
Lexie: do yourself a favor bitch, go with your partner and focus unless you actually want me to beat you
Odalie: that's a joke
James: alright that's enough both you of you stop engaging
Lexie: but
James: walk away (looks at her)
Lexie's pov
I glared at James but I knew he was right the last thing I need is to get disqualified for fighting with the bitch so I became the bigger person and walked to the opposite side of the room and went back into my focus bubble. A few minutes later the competition started and we were the fourth couple to go up so we still had a little time, I took a few deep breaths to let go of the nerves and then it was time for us to go up and James walked over to me and held my hand so we could go on stage together.

Lexie: yeah you?
James: yeah let's go (smiles)
Lexie's pov
We walked out on stage and my heart started racing when I saw the audience in the crowd with their phone more then likely recording, the lights were hitting my skin but I kept my smile and made it to the opposite side of the stage and got onto the floor with my head down and the music started. I started swaying like we practiced and James made his way over to me and did the hand movement to look like he was pushing me while I rolled onto the ground and sat up for him to grab my hand and pulls me up into a spin five times and then grabbed onto my waist. Spun me around so that after I was laying against his lap in a bridge position, pulled me back up and turned me around and held my hand while I lifted my leg up into a soaring like position then I spun again so that I was standing on the ground so we could do the breaking neck effect. We did the leap in sync and then he spun me and let me go so I could spin by myself and lift my arms and make it look like I was pushing him away from me while he crawled backwards on the floor while I did my leap in the air and spun before going back to James and falling backwards so he lifted me in the air before bringing me back down onto his lap and then turned me around so we were back to back. We did our hand movements and then turned around so we were face to face but our bodies were still twisted, we then backed away from each other and I stood up and did another spin while he stayed on the ground and then I got in between his legs and stood up with my arms facing front while he did another body movement, I transitioned into a kick while he got into a push-up position so I could wrap my arms around his waist and roll onto the ground while he moved away from me so we could do another set of hand movements in sync before standing up and doing the hand and body synchronization with the music. I was a little nervous for this part because this is what he kept messing up in rehearsal but when I realized we hit every mark I relaxed again, I did my kick in the air while James ran away from me and then towards me again, we did the part where it looked like we were fighting with each other until he lifted me up again and we both did a turn. I did a leap into the air and James caught my foot stopping me just like we practiced so that I could then stand on his leg for a second before getting back on the ground and I was in front of him now with my hand out to make it look like I was stopping him and wrapped my arm around his neck while he turned so we were back to back. I stepped onto his leg to give me momentum so that I could do another turn and we could transition into the next eight count which was him wrapping his arms around my waist and carrying me across the room into the dip and turning me around again while we did another set of hand movements which transitioned us into the puppet part of the dance and spun me around again into our leaps together. Then used that momentum so he could lightly throw me onto the ground and I could do a roll and lay down on the ground while he walked towards me, I kicked my legs up in the air so that he could grab them over his shoulder and intertwine our hands to push me up so that I could wrap my arms around his neck instead and then push off of him and transition into our improvisation part of the dance separately. Before reconnecting once again after my last turn and wrapping his arms around my waist and pulled me away while I kicked and looked like I was screaming and then pulled my arms back so I could do a somersault onto the ground before standing back up again and him pulling into his chest to once again wrap my legs around his waist so he was holding onto me before laying me back on the ground and hovering over me before I rolled over and was on top of him which transitioned into him grabbing onto my arms and pulling up before laying me back on the ground so we could stand up on our own, I swayed my legs for a few seconds before going back to him where he then wraps his arms around me again and sitting me on the ground with him standing over me and the music stops. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding and noticed that every single audience member was clapping and my eyes caught sight of the boys who looked at me with pride. James then helped me off the ground so we could walk backstage and give one last bow to the judges. When we made it backstage I felt the girls wrap their arms around me while I was still processing what just happened out there.

Amy: yeah all that practicing really paid off!
Dani: you almost had me in tears girly
Lexie: really? (Says out of breath)
Dani: yeah
James: you killed it lex, let's get you some water though yeah?
Lexie: yeah sounds good (still out of breath) good luck out there Clare
Clare: thanks (smiles)
Lexie's pov
James and I grabbed a water bottle and then sat down to catch our breaths for a few minutes and let the adrenaline in our bodies die down.

Lexie: thanks for sticking with me, I know I didn't make it easy especially when I tried to convince you to switch partners
James: it was worth it I knew you could do it, I just needed you to know that
Moose: Lexie! You did an amazing job kid
Lexie: thanks
Camille: you took our advice and used it to your advantage good job
Lexie: thanks for the tips (smiles)
Moose: yeah of course
Lexie: so what happens now?
Camille: you can go join your brothers and wait for the show to end until the awards and then meet us back here
Lexie: okay, James you coming?
James: nah I'll catch up with my family too but we'll see each other in a bit
Lexie: okay
Lexie's pov
I made it back to the audience and the second the boys saw me Jaden lifted me up into his arms and gave me a hug and told me how proud he was and that I killed it, josh said he knew I could do it the whole time and griffin said I was worried for nothing same with the other boys. We sat down and watched the rest of the show, Clare and Ricky did their bachata routine and I have to admit despite them being on and off again when they are on stage they have chemistry and it shows. Then Amy and Kyle did a contemporary piece, Dani and Aaron did musical theater and Odalie and her partner did contemporary so it'll come down to the three of us unless any other person from a different school takes first, second and third. An hour later the shows were over and it was time for the awards, my nerves were once again settling in but James held my hand as we walked upstage and sat with the rest of the kids from our school.

Judge: so the way this works is we are starting with each division and the first division is contemporary
(Lexie takes a deep breath and holds James hand tighter)
James: relax we did really good
Lexie: I know but
James: but nothing relax
Lexie: okay
Judge: in third place we have I hate you, I love you
Clare: no way Odalie and Derek got third (whispers)
Lexie: (smirks) what did I say karma is a bitch
Judges: in second place I don't want to live forever
Lexie: congrats Amy! Go up there (pushes her to stand up
Amy: (smiles) okay okay (grabs kyle's hand and they walk up to the judges)
Judges: and finally in first place unsteady!!
Lexie's pov
The crowd went wild and I had the biggest smile on my face, James helped me stand up and we walked over to the judges and shook their hand while we grabbed the trophy which will probably end up going to the school since technically we are representing them but I don't care it still counts. James pulled me into a hug and we all smiled for a picture, then the next division came which was bachata and of course Clare and Ricky won that one by a mile and Aaron and Dani got second which is still good. When the judges announced that competition was officially over we all went back to our families and Clare just followed me since Justin was with the boys.

Justin: so we were thinking we could all go out for New York style pizza and then walk around Times Square what do you think?
Lexie: of course!
Clare: sound good but we need to go change first

Lexie's pov
We started walking out of the ballroom and headed towards the elevator when I realized I didn't have my phone in my bag. I must have left it backstage by the water bottles because I took it out when I went to drink some.

Clare: okay do you want me to go with you?
Lexie: nah it's okay it'll take me like five minutes tops
Clare: you sure?
Lexie: yeah
Clare: I'll wait here by the elevator I don't want to go without you to the room

Lexie's pov
I started walking backstage and when I walked inside I saw my phone where I left it, I quickly grabbed it and started walking away when I felt arms around my waist pull me back against the wall.

Lexie: Jake! What are you doing here?
Jake: I told you what would happen if you told anyone baby girl, I told you that I would have to speed up the process a little quicker, you shouldn't have crossed me
Lexie: I didn't do anything, I don't know what your talking about
Jake: you really didn't think I would find out about your boys going to the police on Friday, you really underestimate me babygirl and I told you you were going to punished for it (whispers in her ear)
Lexie: you don't scare me now let me go! (Tries pushing him away)
Jake: feisty I like that kitten but your not going anywhere (takes out a bottle of chloroform and a rag)
Lexie's pov
Shit shit shit he's going to try and kidnap me, i am fucked I am so fucked no Lexie you need to think and think fast. I can't let him scare me into submission I won't. When he backed away from me to put the chloroform on the rag I took my chance and I kicked him in the dick, he dropped both things onto the ground and I tried to make a run for it but he grabbed me by my leg and pulled me onto the ground and got on top of me.

Jake: if you don't want anything to happen to your boys I suggest you stop struggling (looks down at her) on second thought keep struggling I like this position (smirks at her and starts kissing her neck) you look good in white to bad your no longer pure
Lexie: and who's fault is that
Jake: I guess that would be me wouldn't it, (continues to kiss her neck and starts running his hands along her body)
Lexie's pov
While he was distracted by kissing me I looked around the room for something that could help me get out of this situation but I didn't find anything. Jake leaned over and grabbed the rag and chloroform again and I knew I couldn't let him get that near me, if he does that it's over for me, I started fighting his grip again and since he was using both hands it was easier for me to stand up, I kicked him in his dick again which sent him to the ground and I grabbed the gun that was around his waist.

Jake: put that down babygirl you don't know what your doing
Lexie: d don't c c come near me
Jake: or what? You wouldn't shoot me
Lexie: a are you sure about that?
Jake: yeah I am sure princess and even if you wanted to you don't know how so give me the gun and I'll let this little tantrum of yours slide (he stands up and walks towards her)
Lexie: I said don't come near me (her hands are shaking but she has the finger on the trigger)
Jake: last chance babygirl put it down
Lexie's pov
Jake started walking towards me again and was about to pull me towards him and I panicked and pulled the trigger, the noise of the gun scares me into dropping it onto the ground just as Jake's body fell to the floor. What did I just do?

A few minutes before
Jaden's pov
The boys and I were talking and waiting for the girls when all of a sudden the sound of a gun shot could be heard backstage. Then we heard a scream, my heart stopped the boys and I ran backstage along with a few police who were now following us as well and when we got backstage I saw my little sister kneeling on the ground, her costume stained in red her body shaking, a gun on the floor with a bottle of chloroform and a rag with a guys body laying on the ground. My body froze and I didn't exactly know what to do until the cops started walking up to my sister and I found the strength to move again.

Cop: miss are you okay? Can you tell me what happened?
(Lexie stays quiet and looks at Jake's body)
Cop: miss I really need you to try and tell me what happened do you know this guy?
Jaden: that's her ex he's been stalking her for a while now, we just reported him to the cops in LA
Cop: how do you know this?
Jaden: I am her brother and legal guardian
Cop: okay how old is she?
Jaden: sixteen
Cop: do you have proof that he was putting her in danger?
Josh: check her cellphone (grabs her phone which was also on the ground)
Cop: (scrolls through her messages) okay we'll notify the police station in LA and let them know what happened
Bryce: is he dead?
Cop: (looks at Jake and then another cop who was checking his pulse)
Cop 2: there's no pulse
Griffin: if he's dead is she going to be charged with anything?
Cop 1: no it was self defense there's proof that he was stalking her and even planning to kidnap her given the evidence on the floor, however we will need her to come down the station tomorrow and give a statement
Jaden: okay (nods his head) can I go over to her now?
Cop: yeah
Lexie's pov
I could hear the cop trying to talk to me and then my brother but I couldn't register what they were saying. My mind ringing from the sound of the gun and replaying these last few seconds over and over. I saw Jaden come over to me and the first thing he did was wrap his arms around me not caring if he got blood on his shirt. At some point he lifted me off the ground and I was brought into Josh's arms they were both trying to talk to me but my mind just couldn't understand what they were saying. I couldn't it was like I was there but I wasn't, eventually Justin and Clare came over and she had tears in her eyes and she tried asking me if I was okay but I stayed quiet.

Griffin: she's in shock, let's get her up to the room
Clare: is she going to be okay?
Griffin: physically yes, mentally... I don't know
Justin: is there anything we can do to help you?
Griffin: I appreciate it Justin but right now I don't think so
Justin: okay well how about tomorrow you guys fly with Clare and I that way you can avoid the airport
Griffin: yeah we'll keep in touch thanks
Justin: no problem, come on Clare let's leave them to process everything
Clare: but I am worried about Lexie..
Justin: I know (hugs her) it's okay she's going to be okay
Clare: you don't know that
Justin: (sighs) I know but right now she needs to be with her family so let's go okay?
Clare: okay
Kio: actually Justin can you do us one favor?
Justin: yeah of course
Kio: get a hold of one of the teachers and tell them lex won't be back for a while at least
Justin: okay
(Justin and Clare walk away)
Josh: Lexie baby please say something
(Lexie looks at josh but stays quiet)
Jaden: let's just get her to the room and out of here
Josh: (nods his head)
Lexie's pov
I felt myself being picked up by Jaden as we walked through the hallway and into the hotel room, he sat me down on the chair and I looked down and realized that my costume was still stained with blood. His blood, I want it off of me now but I couldn't find the strength to get up or say a word but I still couldn't stop staring at what was used to be my white costume just this morning.

Bryce: griffin what do we do, how do we get her to snap out of it?
Griffin: I don't know but what I do know is we should probably get her in the shower and get the blood off of her, Lexie can you stand up for me? (Looks at her)
(Lexie just stares at him and blinks)
Kio: okay I am going to help you up alright? (Helps her stand up but her body gives out on her)
Griffin: get her in the bath Kio, she won't be able to stand up or do it herself right now and Amelie and Dixie aren't here
Anthony: shit I just realized that, I'll call them and let them know what happened (pulls out his phone)
Jaden: griffin you don't have too...
Griffin: Jaden let me do this okay? Your not in the right state of mind either and neither is josh, and neither am I but I am better then you guys
Jaden: fine but I want her with me after
Griffin: okay
Lexie's pov
Kio took me into the bathroom and he started to unbutton my costume but I flinched away from him not wanting to be touched.

(Lexie stares at him and moves further away and griffin walks into the bathroom)
Griffin: lex we need to get the blood off you, and I know your scared but it's okay let us help you we aren't going to do anything
(Lexie shakes her head)
Kio: what if we just get baby wipes and a change of clothes at least until one of the girls come back
Griffin: okay
Lexie's pov
Griffin stayed and took out a makeup wipe and and started wiping the makeup off my face and then moved to my arms and legs and wiped them and Kio came back with a onesie and griffin took off my costume and then Kio helped me get dressed. He picked me up again and brought me to the living room and Jaden was quick to grab me from him and hold me and the only thing I could do was wrap my arms around his neck and lay my head on his chest. I didn't have the strength to speak to anyone of them even though I knew they were all worried about me. Jaden sat down on the couch while Bryce brought over a bottle and Jaden Laid me down and pressed the bottle up to my lips, I couldn't bother to open my mouth though.

Jaden: lex please just a little bit
(Lexie doesn't do anything but stare at the bottle and then closes her eyes) griffin what happened! Why did she pass out
Griffin: she didn't pass out she's asleep, her body probably was to much in a state of shock and exhaustion she fell asleep, don't worry
Jaden: (scoffs) don't worry, griffin my little sister just shot someone who was about to kidnap her and very well could have if she didn't! And she hasn't said anything in two hours and you expect me not to worry!!
Josh: Bryce can you get Lexie, Jaden and I are going to take a breather on the balcony
Bryce: yeah I got her (walks over and takes her out of Jaden's arms)
Josh: babe five minutes let's go please (looks him in the eyes)
Jaden: fine (stands up)
(Josh and Jaden walk out of the balcony and he puts his head in his hands and starts crying while josh wraps his arms around him)
Jaden: we could have lost her today josh
Josh: I know baby I am trying not to think about that though because we didn't leave her and she's still with us (runs his fingers through her hair)
Jaden: we weren't there for her again josh and now who knows what's going to happen with her, how is she going to handle this (looks at him)
Josh; I don't know (tears steam down his face) I don't know Jaden but I know that we'll face it together as a family okay?
Jaden: okay
Josh: it's been a long day and let's go to bed okay?
Jaden: okay
Josh's pov
Jaden and I walked back into the room and I picked up Lexie from Bryce's arms and brought her to our room and laid her down in the middle of the bed. Five minutes later Jaden's eyes had closed and I couldn't get myself to fall asleep and instead I was just looking at Lexie thinking about what happened today and the only thing I could do was stroke her hair and gave a kiss on her forehead and thanked God that she was okay because today could have gone totally different. And that thought alone destroyed me, she may only be sixteen and we are only a few years older then her she's still mine and Jaden's little girl and I love her. When I finally felt my eyes drowsy I didn't fight It and just closed my eyes.
