King Alexander's Point of View

My wolf was restless as I laid on the sofa in my office. Last night Lamia was insufferable, she was screeching like a banshee that I had humiliated her in front our guests and Elisha. I groaned, thanking that the bedrooms were soundproofed. I don't know what Lamia's problem was but she has become more and more difficult and demanding over the years.

I laid back with the small blanket wrapped around my waist. I knew there was no point in arguing with Lamia anymore. I knew my wolf would do something I regret, she never quite understand that we demanded respect. Over the years, since Ryan went to boarding school for his Alpha training she has slowly become more insufferable.

I remember my father loving my mother and doing everything he could to make her happy. He always wanted me to do the same for my mate, he taught me good values. Lamia had become more and more involved with the pack, changing things, creating quarters for the different roles of the pack. She felt they needed to be with 'their own'. Part of me knew that it wasn't the right decision, but I wanted to make her happy. She shared her fears of her son giving into temptation and not waiting for his mate. I understood her worries for she didn't want him to shit where he eats but now when I look back I wondered whether it was the right decision.

Ryan is a good pup, but he is so far away from his people I worry that he does not understand their needs as a collective. He doesn't interact with the omega's, he barely speaks to his warriors. He only speaks with the higher rank officials. I feel he is out of touch with the people we are worn to protect. I hoped he would meet his mate within the pack and she could ground him and get him to reconnect with the pack members but unfortunately he was mated to Elisha.

Elisha. I don't know what it is about her, but she unsettles me. There is something disturbing about her. I don't know whether it is because of my investigation at her pack, where her brother had not taken his true mate. Were these the values that their parents taught her? I could sense that my wolf was agreeing with my thoughts, he sensed that she was a manipulative bitch and we needed to watch our backs.

I groaned, my thoughts back to Leyla. She truly had grown up to be a special wolf. She was kind-hearted, intelligent and humble. She reminded me a lot of my mother. I sighed asking why the Moon Goddess didn't pair her up with my son. She would have had the ability to ground him, she would have led him back to his people. I meant every word I said the first night she came to dinner, she would make an excellent Luna.

I hoped by having her in an advisor role, would allow her to help and support Elisha into the pack. I hoped that Leyla would have been able to give Elisha the tools to help her integrate Ryan into the pack but she refused. She wanted to be a pack doctor. Don't get me wrong, she would be excellent in whatever she choose, I wonder why she had the change of heart. I needed to know what had gone down while I was away and speak to my son about what our investigation found.

I hope he doesn't share too much with Elisha, for my part me is scared she is involved and knows what happened to the missing she-wolf. She does not seem to be the type of person who isn't involved with pack politics. She reminds me of Lamia. Once upon of time I would have said that is a good thing but now, I'm not sure.

"Ryan, meet me in my office as soon as possible." I mind-linked him.

"Yes father." He replied. I could tell he was awake, which was unusual for him, he is normally fast asleep in the morning. I thought he would want to spend time with Elisha.

I pushed myself off the sofa, kicking the blanket off me and wrapping it in a ball. I threw it in the corner and made my way to the desk and my chair. I pinched the bridge of  my nose feeling another headache coming. A knock on the door disrupted me from my thoughts.
