Chapter 20: Not a Daddy's Girl

Shawn's Pov:

It's been over a week since that horrible honest night. People who are mad at each other are working on it or not even bothering at all. For example of not trying is: I've hardly spoken to Anthony which don't matter to me cause he was just an add-on with Megan and Deon long ago, so I'm cool with everyone except that plus-one.

He can't forget we was a trio before the rest of them.

As for Monica and Megan, it's complicated. Apparently there's something going on between them two even though from what Coiya said nothing was said between them at all just that Monica had been down and doesn't want to talk about it which is weird because Monica can't really keep her mouth closed at all, especially to Megan.

An example of working on it is: As for Nana, no one knows what's going on with her. Megan's worried and gave everyone an earful about never doing what we did again for the sake of Nana. She was so upset with us that next morning she didn't make a single snarky comment or joke while cookin breakfast, but she's forgiven us. I gave her my share of apologies, and hugs and kisses. 

Now here's the moment of truth. Megan had been angry at Deon from how he handled his 'fake death' and not taking it seriously when she thought he had died. So that next morning after that night when we all sat in the kitchen we all told Nana what happened including the part about Deon's and Megan's fight. She explained in a calmer way of why Megan probably acted that way to which he understood it wasn't something to be taken lightly.

Getting to the point: he bought her 5 pints of cookies and cream ice cream, and some bracelet she had been looking at awhile back. He received a lot of hugs and punches from her which he handled with a smile on his face. Man, that told me to step up my game seeing how happy she got when she saw them but they're cool now and back to the bickering loving cousins.

Now here's what going on today: Megan's dad is back in town, and he's PISSED.

Nana left in a hurry to go see what's the issue when Mrs. Vanessa called saying he went off when he saw Michelle. She's over 5 months and I won't say big but very pregnant.

I stayed behind because that man doesn't even like me. He always thought that Nana should have left me behind a long time ago (by that I mean when I was 4) because she was getting attached, but (rolling my eyes) Nana loves me too much to let me go (Also she didn't have a choice). So, this feud with me and him caused one with Nana and him. Nana don't play about her grandbabies, and she never let me feel like I wasn't one of hers.

Imagine if he found out I'm dating his daughter. 

Regardless of how he feels about me, he's the reason why I was inspired to go to the military. The only downside is being away for so long.

I'm getting anxious to know what's going on. I know I'm supposed to wait but I'm missing out on the drama that's going on down at that house. So, I'm walking my white ass- Now since when do I say things like that about myself?

I begin walkin to Mrs. Vanessa's house. Remember to call her Aunt Nessa. I tell myself because that's what she's always been telling me to call her for as long as she's known me. I swear everytime I say Mrs. Vanessa she rolls her eyes at me, but now that Charles is back it always made him mad for me to call her Aunt Nessa so why not?

I'll never get over how the whole family stay only walking distances away. Well I mean from grandparents to first cousins.

When the house appears, I see my beautiful girlfriend sitting on the step looking sad while picking dry leaves. I can only guess what's got her like this.

"Hey." I slide on a spot next to her. A small smile appears on her face.

"Who got you frowning like this? If it's Deon, I can go fight him, but I'll have to lose on purpose to save his ego." I say and her smile widens as she shoulder bumps me.
