Shawn's POV:
"Get serious." Megan once again, scolds me. Putting my hands on her upper torso, and hers on my shoulders, as we follow the video to match the pace of the song and steps. More like struggling to, well, me.
"I am serious." I cringe once again feeling myself step on her foot for the 10th time. Megan doesn't even make a face or react anymore, just sighs, and backs away. She crosses her arms, giving me space on the floor.
"So show me the steps."
I looked over at the tv playing the cassett going over the steps that we have been following, well, I've been following. Megan already had the steps down already for some odd reason.
"Without looking at the tv."
Welp, I forfeit.
"This is so stupid."
"The party is in a week. You have time to get at least the basics right."
"After basics then what?"
"I don't know."
"Then this is pointless."
"Shawn, please." The puppy dog eyes, that can demand for anything they want from me. "I want you to come back with no marks, no bruises."
Ughhhhhhhhhhh....
I can't look her in the eyes any longer when I feel my face heat up at her genuine concern. I hate that I make her and Nana worry about me. I hate that she feels like she has to help make sure I'm this picture perfect son, but I'm tired of keeping the image up. However, Megan hasn't given up on me, so I'm going to keep going for her.
"Fine, but I suck at this."
"Yeah, but you could be worse." I look her, baffled at her honesty.
"How?"
"You could have boogers in your nose and snot running down your mouth."
i just stared at her wondering where her mind could be right now, and how did it reach that point?
"What does that- you know what? Never mind." I say, brushing it off because at the end of the day it don't matter. Holding a hand out to invite her back, she with grace takes it, and as she's stated over and over again, I take the lead.
"Where did you even learn how to ballroom dance?"
1 step.
"Movies, and a broom stick." Not glimmer of humor or a twitch of a smile, just a straight face to explain. So, I would be the only one laughing in the room at the image of Megan dancing by herself in her room learning to dance. Not because it's funny, but cause, it's so her.
2 step.
"Wha-I can actually believe that. You and the romance films."
Rotate.
"Don't pretend you were crying watching that movie with me the other day." Well, that shut me up.
1 step.
"Men don't cry."
2 step.
"You do have women hips."
Rotate.
I have to bite my tongue, knowing this is only get back for all the flat jokes I made in the past couple of years, and in my head still when she says stupid things like this. My face was hot, not red, but hot.
1 step.
"Anywho, why did you learn?"
2 step.
"I'm waiting for my own prince to come sweep me off my feet."
