Megan's Pov:

"That a baby?!"

"Yes." I answer the clown before me. The creases in his eyebrows get deeper and deeper as time ticks by, and more questions blossom between the bricks in his brain.

"Like a baby, baby?"

"A human child, yes."

"That's a baby." Deon, dramatically, wails pointing a shaky finger at the picture in my hands while holding his other one over his mouth.

"What part of 'yes' don't you understand?" I grit my teeth in annoyance. We've been standing here in the middle of the living room for a couple of minutes now. The family gathered here watch our biggest drama take center stage at the big news.

"Mamma, Daddy. What was y'all thinking?" Deon throws himself at his parent's laps who are seated on the couch looking at the other sonograms. Tilo gives Aunt Apryl a copy before giving his attention to the man-child before them.

"Boy, hush." My Aunty says, pushing at his head to get him off her lap. Deon resists just holding on to her tighter and laying his head on her stomach.

"Mamma, y'alls too old for this. I'm in my twenties. Whatcha doin havin another baby at y'alls big age?"

Now he just bein rude.

"Tilo." A silent request from wife to husband shifted the atmosphere. In silence, Tilo wraps an arm around Deon's shoulders and doesn't give him the chance to fuss before he's being walked outside on the porch, where it's pouring rain.

The thunderstorm takes over the silence now that the goofball had been escorted off the premises. He's in shock, we know that but we don't need to make the pregnant woman cry. Especially when she just found out YESTERDAY that she was over 5 months pregnant. How she's not bawling and throwing up everywhere? I have no clue. I would've.

"So what's the plan?"

"We still tryna figure that out. We got so much to do, it's bullshit. Cuse me, mamma."

"Nah, I understand. What they call this pregnancy? Critical-Nah, that ain't right." Nana snaps her fingers, trying to remember then tries to get people to help her figure it out.

"En- something."

People join in trying to help Nana guess what she could be saying. As for me, I don't have a clue. Ain't pregnancy just pregnancy?

"Encryptic." Aunt Apryl guess had my mom's eye lighting up like a Christmas tree. Like clicking a buzzer, my mom sat up straight pointing a finger at Nana like she was going to win the $1,000,000 prize.

"Cryptic!" When did this become a game?

"Bingo!" Nana points a finger at the winner with a congratulating smile on her face.

"I'm just grateful I didn't have to go into labor to find out." My Aunty's shakes her  head like she's imagining that scenario.

"At least the hard part is over." Marcus points out the windows where Tilo and Deon sits on the porch having a talk.

I wonder if he's upset that he won't be the only child anymore.

"Oh, Meg Baby, before I forget." The pregnant woman calls for my attention and pats the now empty seat next to her for me to sit down. I calculate if there's enough room for me to squeeze in that tiny spot before easing myself down.

"Do you know Monica's favorite flowers? I'm planning to get her a bouquet, but I also want them to match her class ring."

"Anything orange." Simple answer.
