Shawn's Pov:
"You ready?" Jeremy asks me fixing the collar of his uniform in the mirror. I'll be first to confess that the man is handsome. Not even the bags under his eyes can take it away. Hey, I can admit when a man looks good.
"Couldn't be more ready if I wanted to." I scoff at the thought of staying here for one more day. Jeremy laughs shaking his head.
"I'm being serious." I'm ready to sleep in a real bed, eat real big portions of food, take a shower, jerk off, sleep some more, see my friends and family again, eat Nana's porkchops at my request when I get back, and then sleep on her couch just like old times.
If you couldn't tell by now, I'm done with this place.
It's been fun, stressful, tough, an adventure, experience, disciplining, but I'm ready to get to the big jobs. Ready for the harder stuff, I want to damn near die from work. Put me on the boats after having me almost drown here on several occasions. Where the submarines at?
"FALL IN LINE!"
Emotionally, for our last time, we stand post for our Lieutenant. If I didn't know this man at all, I would have missed how the frown on his face has sunken more. The commander, as well, stands against the wall with his head held high, arms firm behind his back, watching the main man walk down the wall to acknowledge all of us.
"All your time and efforts will be evident when you walk out these doors!" The lieutenant passed me, continuing until he reached the last person on this side of the hall and turning to see the others.
"Your families awaits you outside these doors! Let's put a good show for them, eh?!"
"Sir, yes, sir!" Every man, including commander says.
"None of you are the same weak maggots that walked through my doors anymore!" I could hear his footsteps making their way in this direction again. No matter how honest that was, he was right.
"I'm proud to announce each and everyone of you went from cadets to officially soldiers!"
"You will have a lot more challenges ahead of you! Will deal with people worst than me! But you made it through this, you can make it through anything! Never give up! Keep going! You represent this base when people knows your record! Remember, those folks wanted to you out, I said let them have a chance!"
It was made known that this base is being shut down in two years. There's one more year of second-chance cadets coming in, and that'll be it. The stunt Chad and his klan pulled costed a lot with funds, bad reputation with the state, court fees, and loss of connections that helped sponsored such as Miradine University.
"DO NOT prove them right! Prove that you belong in your positions! More than those who got there first try! Do you understand me?!"
"Sir, yes, sir!" Some voices cracked with emotions. Without this place, I wouldn't have been able to join. A history with injuries can hold anyone back, the concussion and stab wound I received would have ruined everything I worked for. It's thanks to this place I'm able to wear my uniform.
"Heads up!" The commanders started the walk to the door. In alphabetical order, we followed after him, hands behind our backs.
"Shoulders back!" The lieutenant observes our postures.
"And...!" Workers opened the door and the sunlight scared away all the darkness in the room. Maybe it was my eagerness to complete this program, or maybe it was truly magical. The chatters of our families reached our ears, and many people began to tear up. I began to tear up, but quickly shook them away. We can't show no emotion.
