Mami steps back. Anirudh comes in front of Bondita and faces mami. He says," Aapki himmat kese hui meri patni par haath uthane ki?" Bondita's heart fluttered listening to 'Meri Patni' from her husband. Mami looks at him shocked. She says," Bohot zabaan chalne lag gayi hai iski, ise sidha karna jaruri hai." Anirudh presses his head and says," Toh iska matlab haath uthayengi ispar. Kisne aap ko itna hak diya. Meri patni hone se pehle woh ek insaan hai jise aap uski anumati ke bina chu bhi nhi sakti." To which Mami says, "Jamai babu aap nahi jaante hai mai ise kya samjha rahi hu. Isne kya kiya hai vivaah ke pehle, aapko nhi pata yeh sab." Anirudh says irritated," Bondita ne kya kiya vivaah se pehle ye mujhe nhi jaan na. Uska atit hamare aaj ke beech nhi aa sakta." Bondita smiled listening to him. She was starting to believe that he had a different mentality than other men. He didn't consider wives as slaves, or as someone who walks behind them, but he considered wives to walk with them, step by step.
Mami says," Par jamai babu, isne vivaah se pehle apne hone wale pati ko khat likha tha, woh bhi shart wala. Woh bhi yeh shart ki, woh vivaah tab hi karegi jab use aae padhne diya jayega." Anirudh looks at Bondita shocked. He realises it was Bondita who wrote that letter. He didn't knew that she can read and write. Bondita on seeing Anirudh's reaction, misunderstands him. She thinks that he also has a thought process like her Mami. Her heart denies her mind making her remind the words he said at the river. Bondita runs outside leaving Anirudh and Mami alone. Anirudh glares at mami and leaves to find Bondita. Mami smirks.
Bondita sits by the river hugging her knees close to her chest. She looks at the never ending river with an emotionless face. Anirudh comes from behind and sees Bondita sitting. He comes and sit beside her folding his legs. Bondita gets up to leave on seeing him but rather Anirudh holds her hand. Bondita squeezes her eyes shut. She feels a pull and she sits back on the same place in same position. They both sit in comfortable silence. Bondita didn't knew how to tell him everything. No matter what, they were now married and need to be crystal clear with each other.
Anirudh called her out but she ignored him. Anirudh tried again but she ignored. He scooped closer to her and saw her face emotionless. He made her face him. She complied to him without any questions. He made her face him by lifting her chin up. She looked in his eyes and Anirudh could feels his stomach flipping from the intensity of her eyes. He averted his eyes to avoid the feeling.
He took a deep breath and said," Bondita, kya tum mujhe kuch batana chahti ho? Agar tumhe abhi thik nahi lag raha hai toh hum baad mai bhi baat kar sakte hai." Bondita nods and says," Mai mere maa aur baba ke saath Calcutta rehti thi. Maine school ki padhai puri ki hai. Mere baba shiksha ko bohot mehetva dete the. Unhone mujhe school ki padhai ghar par di, mai keval pariksha dene ke liye school jati thi. Uske baad mere baba ne mera admission Calcutta Law University mai karwa diya. Maine waha 2 varsh padhai kari. Fir uske baad, yani 6 mahine pehle, maa baba ne mujhe akela chod diya. Unki ek accident mai mrityu ho gai. Fir mai mama mami ke saath gaav mai rehne lagi. Mama mami ne mujhe padhne likhne ki ijazat nhi di. Mujhe bohot maarti thi mami, ghar ka sara kaam karwati thi. Fir mami ne bataya ki mera rishta tay kar diya hai. Tab maine socha ki mai ese nhi reh sakti. Mujhe padhna hai. Kuch karna hai aage. Tab maine woh shart wala patr likha. Usme maine shart likhi thi ki mai vivaah tab hi karungi yadi mujhe aage padhne ki anumati milti hai. Halanki mujhe iss cheez ke liye anumati nhi mangni chahiye, hak hai yeh mera. Par koi tha kya mera joh mera saath de sake." Anirudh looks at her adorably. He had realised that Bondita's letter was the one he received. He asked her," Ab hai kya koi tumhara?" Bondita says nonchalantly," Hai na aap." Anirudh can feel his heartbeat quicken on listening to Bondita. She then looks at him and says," Saath nhi denge aap mera?" Anirudh nods and says," Mai dunga tumhara saath, mai karunga madad tumhari. Hum tumhare sapne ko pura karne mai. Hum saath milkar badlaav layenge. Vada raha yeh mera." Bondita's eyes get wet and he wipes the tears from her face.
They hear Sampoorna shouting for Bondita. Bondita tries to get up but instead slips in the mud. She gets all messy and dirty. Anirudh gets up and laughs out loudly. She glares at him and he forwards his hand for her to come back up. She grabs his hand and pulls him down in the mud. He falls in the mud and gets dirty. Bondita laughs clutching her stomach. Anirudh glares at her and then smirks when an idea strikes his mind. He picks up some mud from nearby and throws it on her. Bondita fumes in anger and tries to get up to grab the mud from near Anirudh, but instead she slips on him. She clutches his suspenders for balancing herself. He balances himself on his hands. They both look at each other. Bondita tries to get up but instead slips on him again. Both of them look at their positions, their bodies sticking to each other, the slippery mud and their faces inches away. Anirudh helps Bondita to stand up. They stand and Bondita looks at her clothes irritatedly. She whines looking at herself.
Bondita looks at the river and slowly enters inside it. Anirudh follows her. They walk upto the knee level and wash off the dirt. Bondita's hair gets wet, her saree clinging on to her body. Anirudh looks at her and gulps. He could feel his stomach twisting. Bondita on feeling his intense gaze gets shy. Her cheeks turn crimson red. They step out and leave for home. Anirudh notices people's gaze on Bondita. He notices that Bondita's saree has turned almost transparent. He takes Bondita in a side hug. Bondita looks at him shocked. He keeps moving without answering.
They come back home and Anirudh helps Bondita to escape into the room without coming in notice of mami. Anirudh stands in the room facing the wall and Bondita changes her saree. They both change their clothes and come out.
Bondita, Sampoorna and Mami serve the food to men and have food afterwards. Everybody gets changed and mama does the arrangement for sleeping. Anirudh picks out a book from his bag and lays on the mattress. Whereas Saurav sleeps and Sampoorna and Bondita play games. Bondita notices Anirudh struggling with mosquitoes. She runs to the kitchen and gets some pieces of garlic with her. She says," Ese bhagenge machhar?" He looks at her and says," Toh kese bhagenge?". She shows him the garlic pieces and says," Ese bhagenge. Ise jeb mai rakh lijiye apne." She hands him the pieces of garlic. He smells it and throws it away and says," Machhar bardasht kar sakta hu par yeh lehsun nhi."
Bondita's mama comes and apologizes for the inconvenience but Anirudh assures him that he is comfortable. Bondita goes to the nearby garden and brings a plant. She keeps a plant and says," Ab nhi ayenge machhar". He asks," Tumhe kese pata iske baare mai? Tumne paudho ki vishay mai padhai ki hai?" She says," Padha hai maine, aur har baar sirf jankaari ke liye padhna nhi padhta. Aas paas dhyaan bhi rakhna padta hai." He smiles and thanks her for the plant.
Bondita goes back to play. Whenever she giggled, Anirudh stole a look at her. He kept the book and tried to sleep. But his mind was still clouded with the thoughts of Bondita's letter. He thought whether the letter was destined to reach to him, to Bondita's actual to be husband. Whether their marriage is destined. He slept thinking about it.
On the other side, Saudamini comes to Anirudh's room. She thinks of Anirudh. She says," Mai jaanti hu Anirudh tum kisi aur se pyaar nhi kar sakte. Mujhe de diya tumhara khat Som ne." She acts like him. Binoy comes and instigates her. He tells, Bondita is young and beautiful, not now, but Anirudh will soon fall for her. She is his wife and will always be regarded in the society. But what about you and your love. You have only one option to sacrifice your love. She says why shall I sacrifice, I know how to get him, you will see a new Saudamini, who knows how to snatch love.
