"Here, your first salary!" Rudra handed out the envelopes to Jim and Bondita with a monotone face as a proud smile makes its way onto their faces.
Bondita bends down to touch his feet but he takes a few steps backwards showing his hand. He turns away and leaves making him frown.
People would say Rudra is a stone hearted man, he doesn't have any emotions! Why wouldn't they? Couldn't he even pass a small smile to his interns?
He was standing at the same place 10 years back, receiving his first pay from his mentor. He had this big excited smile on his face as he was handed his envelope.
Nobody knew but Rudra had always been a soft boy, believing in "living in the moment". He had big dreams and aspirations. He had excelled every field that he had worked in. He was not from a rich wealthy family, but a middle class family, which supported every decision of his.
He knew what it felt like? He knew the excitement in young hearts when they received their first pay! So why couldn't he share this happiness with his interns?
What happened in these 10 years that Rudra changed so much?
"It's been 1 month and yet you are trying!" Says Jim turning to Bondita whose face was etched with a frown looking at the retreating figure of Rudra.
Bondita's face falls as she hears Jim. Jim wraps his arm around her shoulder saying, "Smile honey! Don't destroy this feeling of your first pay because of that grumpy man!"
Bondita elbows Jim and says sternly, "However he is, do not forget that he is our mentor!" Jim raises his hands in surrender and says, "Take it easy girl! Say anything, but I certainly believe that he had never laughed in his entire life."
Bondita shakes her head and leaves with hundreds of thoughts in her mind. She tries to focus on Jim's words and leaves for home to let everybody know about her first pay.
She rushes to her home with a beaming smile and sees her Baba and Ksj on the couch, in the garden sipping on their tea. Shubhra was on the bench playing with the neighborhood toddlers.
Batuk had his head laid on his Baba's lap reading some books. Som, probably was in the study teaching Tapur and Tupur.
Roy Choudhury family got together twice a day, once at the time of evening snacks and once at Breakfast. Binoy, Bondita and Anirudh usually had their lunch in their respective offices. Whereas Batuk and Som used to stay in their school and college. Binoy majorly had after parties and dinner meetings to attend. Thus they made sure to sit by each other and talk atleast twice a day.
Bondita adored the trend as the family made sure to receive its much needed bonding time. She rushes to them and takes Shubhra in a big hug making her gasp.
Shubhra pats her head and says, "Aaj kisiko maa par bada pyaar aa raha hai?!" "Mujhe toh aap par roz pyaar aata hai! Aap hai hi itni pyaari!" Says Bondita sweetly.
