They all come out on hearing people calling them. Munshi tries stopping the villagers. Trilochan says with authority and power in his voice,"Andar ho ya bahaar, Roy Choudhury Haveli mai sirf Roy Choudhuryon ki hi awaaz gunjni chahiye. Kya ho gaya, ese shor kyu macha rahe ho? Jese koi tumhari dhoti lutkar le gaya ho?" The men complain and says," Ha zamindaar sahab, dhoti hi loot li gai hai hamari nadi kinare se. Ham chahte hai aap nyaay kare. Saza de uss chor ko." Other one says," Gile badan kese chupte chupate ham ghar gaye hai hame hi pata hai, bohot sharam ka saamna karna pada hame."
Trilochan laughs and says," Zamindar hai, par gaav ke bandaro par hukum chalta hai kya hamara? Kese samjhaye unko?" The men say," Bandar ne dhoti churayi hoti toh ham yaha nhi aate, par hamari dhoti aapki choti Bahu ne churayi hai." Trilochan gets shocked and shouts on them," Zabaan sambhalkar baat karo. Hamari Bahu se hamara maan samman hai. Uska apmaan yani hamara apmaan. Tumhari himmat bhi kese hui Roy Choudhury Bahu par ungli uthane ki?".
The men say," ham koi jhuta aarop nhi laga rahe hai, ham sirf nyaay mangne aaye hai, bina saza diye nyaay hoga kya?" Trilochan shouts," tumhare kehne par ham apni bahu par vishwaas na kare? Ye jhute aarop sach man le? Usse saza de de."
Anirudh sees Bondita tensed. Trilochan asks," Behtar yahi hoga ki tum sab chale jao, warna abhi sabke zameen ke kagaz nikalwate hai". Everybody turns to leave but Anirudh stops them and says, "Rukiye, nyaay hoga." Trilochan says, "Hamne keh diya na, bas ab chup raho." Anirudh calls Bondita and asks," Kya tumne churayi dhoti?". She nods. He asks why.
She says,"Barabri ka matlab samjhane ke liye. Puchiye inse, kya nadi par pareshaan nhi karte aurto ko? Aurto ke nahane ke samay pahuch nhi jaate wahan? Aaj kapde churaye tab samajh aaya na inko ki kese sharam aati hai bhaagne mai. Inke karan roz aurto ko gile badan chupte chupate bhagna nhi padta kya? Mai toh bas sabak sikhana chahti thi ki sharam bhed nhi karti aadmi aur aurto mai. Jese inhe aaj bura laga, aurto ko roz nhi lagta hoga?"
Anirudh smiles. The men ask," toh kya ab aurte sabak sikhayengi? Woh nyaay karengi?". Bondita shouts irritated, "Ha, ab aurte nyaay bhi karengi, sabak bhi sikhayengi aur sazaa bhi degi. Saare niyam sirf aurto ke liye kyu? Admiyon ke liye kyu nhi?" She says," Agar aurat kuch alag kare toh use saza milti hai, aur aadmi kare toh usse shabashi? Jab yeh has rahe the aurto par tab woh thik tha, toh ab koi kyu nhi hasta in par?" She asks Anirudh to say," Ab aap hi bataiye pati babu, Jab aadmi aur aurat ke paas do paer, do haath ek naakh do kaan aur do aankh ek baraabr hoti hai, toh yaha bhed bhaav kyu? Kya galti kari hai maine, shayad tareeka galat tha mera, par mere paas iska sahi karan tha. Aap bataiye kya soch galat hai meri?" Trilochan, Anirudh and Saudamini look on. Anirudh claps for her.
He says, "Bravo girl, I m proud of you, well said." Agar lecture hi dena tha toh mai hi de deti, thinks Saudamini. Anirudh says," Sun liya aapne, usne kya kiya aur kyu kiya? Usne joh bhi kiya bilkul sahi kiya." Bondita smiles. Anirudh scolds the men.
The man says," Chote malik, sirf aapki hi patni ko taklif hai, warna aaj tak kisi aurat ne aawaz uthayi? Aapki patni ne hi sabse pehle aawaz uthayi." Anirudh says,"Pehli aawaz ek bohot bade badlav ka pehla kadam hoti hai. Mujhe garv hai ki yeh pehli aawaz Bondita ne uthayi. Ab isse pehle mai koi badi saza de du, chale jaao yaha se. Aur kal se aurto ke nahane ke samay nadi par mat jana." Munshi asks them to go. The men leave. Trilochan kaka stomps his foot and goes inside. Bondita looks at Anirudh who was already looking at her proud. He says," Shabash Bondita!" Bondita beams in happiness.
They go inside and see Trilochan fuming. He says," Parivaar ke samman ka prashna tha isliye kuch nhi kaha hamne par joh bhi hua woh sahi nhi tha. Tumhari patni nadi kinaare nahate hue logo ke kapde churaye. Shobha deta hai? Aur tum apni patni ko daatne samjhane ke bajaye uski pith thap thapa rahe ho?"
Anirudh wonders why did Bondita go to river in early morning. He asks," Bolo Bondita subah subah kyu gayi thi nadi par." She says," Nahane ke liye." He says, "Par hamare ghar par bathroom hai na." She says," Haa par Sampoorna didi ke ghar par nhi hai na, toh kal raat to unke ghar ruki thi isliye nadi par nahane gayi thi. Aur fir kal joh baat suni thi..." She stops realising the blunder she was doing.
She bites her tongue and Anirudh says skeptical," Ha kya sunaa tha??". Trilochan says," Ha bathroom bathroom bathroom, aag laga do iss vilayati gusalkhane ko. Yaad nhi hai bachpan mai kaise nahane ke liye nadi mai dupki lagaya karte the, aur ab dekho, uss balti mai ghus kar nahate ho." Anirudh says, "Bathtub kehte hai uss balti ko." Bondita giggles. Trilochan glares at her.
Trilochan then says," Ha, hame na sikhao, Pavitrata nhi bhang kar di usne saare ghar ki? Jis ghar mai bhagwaan ko pujte hai usi ghar mai snan karte hai, Shiv Shiv Shiv. Aur bahu tum thik kar rahi ho, tum bhi jaa sakti ho nadi par nahane. Chalo kisi ke toh man mai bhagwaan ka dar hai." Bondita's face gets pale and she looks at Anirudh pleading,
Anirudh assures her by blinking his eyes and says," kaka, aurat aur mard ke dohre mapdand kyu? Agar aadmi bathroom mai naha sakta hai, toh aurat kyu nhi?" Trilochan says," Aadmi toh patloon bhi pehenta hai toh kya aurat bhi pehnegi. Tum raat ko pajama pehente ho toh kya bahu bhi woh pehnegi?" Anirudh stops the laugh that was about to escape his mouth when Bondita glares at him.
Saudamini notices the exchange between the couple. He continues," Kya aurte bhi motorgadi chaleyengi?" Bondita's eyes twinkle on hearing about driving motorcar. She was always fascinated by it and getting an opportunity of driving it was way too much for her. Anirudh says irritated," Kaka mujhe yeh sab nhi pata, Meri patni Bondita ghar par hi bathroom ka istemal karegi, bas. Thik hai Bondita?" Bondita nods.
