After sometime she goes downstairs and sees Anirudh leaving for work. She runs to him and calls out," Patibabu... Patibabu..." But Anirudh leaves without even sparing her a glance. Bondita stands dejected.
In the evening when Anirudh returns she goes to him with water but he ignores her and leave for his room. At night when Anirudh slips in the covers, Bondita tiptoes and sleeps beside him like before. Anirudh on feeling her presence gets up and adjusts on the couch. Bondita looks on.
The same thing repeats for two more days. Bondita is on her toes around Anirudh. She follows him everywhere but him being him, stays angry with Bondita and ignores her. Bondita had enough of his ignorance and was making plans to irritate him and make him speak to her.
One morning, when Anirudh was about to leave for court, she stands in the balcony and drops water on him. Anirudh gets stunned as the water trickled down his head and looks upwards. He sees Bondita and groans in frustration. Bondita giggles seeing him. He speaks in frustration," Yeh kya ho raha hai!" Bondita shouts," Yeh kya keh rahe hai pati bahu, sunai nahi de raha hai. Yaha mujhe dekh kar kahiye na."
Anirudh groans and stands aside. Bondita too shifts with him upstairs. She again drops water on him and Anirudh leaves ruffling his hair angrily. Bondita looks on dejected. 'Itna gussa koi hota hai bhala ? kitni koshish kar rahi hu mai, par maante hi nhi hai. Rakshas Babu. Hey Dugga Maa, kese manaye ab yeh pyaari si Bondita apne Patibabu ko.' She muttered looking at the sky and left for her room.
There, Anirudh stepped aside from the tree, behind which he had hidden his frame. He smiled looking at Bondita and chuckled. He was enjoying the attention he was receiving, though he was angry on her for not sharing her problems, also for believing in such practices, but something in him told that Bondita will eventually come in terms. It would have been just the spur of the moment when her heart would have been weak and she believed these stupid practices. He believed it.
He sat in the car and noticed a packet kept there. He opened it and saw a neatly pressed and folded pair of clothes kept in it. He chuckled knowing that Bondita would have kept them.
He reaches office and as soon as he enters, his phone rings," Helooo" Anirudh recognises the voice but decides to play along. "Hello', Says Anirudh "Hello, Kya Birristra Babu, Anirudh Roy Choudhury baat kare rahe hai?" Bondita says faking some weird accent. Anirudh chuckles on her endearment, Birristra Babu, and says," Birristra Babu nhi Barrister Babu! Ji mai Barrister Anirudh hi baat kar raha hu."
"Ha, maine bhi toh wahi kaha, Birristra Babu." Says Bondita trying to control her giggles.
Anirudh says," Nahi... Barrister babu." "Ha ha, mai jaanti hu. Barrister Babu. Par Birristra Babu mai apna pan aata hai. Isliye Birristra Babu." Bondita says smiling.
Anirudh says," Achha ji, aur aap mujhe kyu bulayengi iss naam se, kya aap meri apni hai?"
Bondita says," Ha ha, aapne nhi suna, Vasudhev Kutumbakam, yani puri duniya hamara parivaar hai. Aur parivaar toh apna hi hota hai na. Aur toh aur angrezi mai bhi kehte hai, all Indians are my brothers and sisters, except one."
Anirudh chuckles and says," Nahi nahi, esa nhi hota hai, All Indian's are my brothers and sisters, esa hota hai." Bondita face palms herself and says," Toh kya apne pati ko bhi apna bhai maan na chahiye, hmm?"
Anirudh breaks into laughter and says, "Baat toh sahi hai, par aap yeh bataiye aapko kya kaam hai Birristra Babu ka?"
Bondita hits her forehead and nods. She says," Ha ha, woh mujhe ek case file karna hai court mai, kya aap ladenge mera mukadma?"
Anirudh says playing along," Achha ji, kiske khilaaf case file karna hai?"
Bondita says," Mere pati babu ke khilaaf!"
Anirudh says amused," Aapke pati babu ke khilaaf?"
Bondita says," Haan ji! Bohot gusse wale hai woh, gussa naak par rehta hai. Mujhse baat nhi karte, nazarandaaz karte hai. Maana galti hai meri, par usse sudharne ka, aur apna paksh rakhne ka mauka hi nhi dete. Birristra Babu hai woh bhi bohot bade, par fir bhi dusro ka paksha nhi sunte. Birristra Babu, ladenge aap mere pati babu ke khilaaf?"
The words hit Anirudh. He realises his mistake and cuts the call. Bondita worries. She thinks she might have angered Anirudh more. Sh tries to call Anirudh but he removes the wire from the telephone. Bondita gets sad.
Anirudh thinks that he being a barrister should have given Bondita a chance to speak her part. She should have been given an equal opportunity to prove her innocence. He understood what Bondita meant by her last line," Birristra Babu, ladenge aap mere pati babu ke khilaaf?" She was trying to plead the Barrister in him to make her husband understand to listen to her.
Anirudh grins in realisation that her wife is indeed very smart. She played smartly with her words to make him understand his mistake. He decides to talk to Bondita today and end her misery.
Also, Bondita had decided that today she will irritate Anirudh to such an extent that he will shout on her. Atleast his ignorance will break. She was ready to receive his anger rather than his ignorance. Though they have not spent a lot of time together, but they had definitely formed a good bond of understanding and friendship. And Bondita cannot afford to loose her only friend here.
Ab kya karun? Esa lagta hai Pati babu aur gussa ho gaye hai. Agar firse baat nhi ki toh? Are ese kese baat nhi karenge. Aaj kuch esa karungi ki woh mujhe nazarandaaz kar hi na paye. Aaj unhe itna pareshaan kar dungi ki woh mujhse baat kare bina reh hi nhi payenge.
