Anirudh was still sitting below the telephone holding its receiver close to his heart, expecting Bondita to listen to what his heart wants to say which his mind won't allow. He was gazing at Bondita's picture which he had in his wallet. He heard some sound from outside and saw Saurav arguing with the watchman. Watchman was not letting him in as it was late at night and Saurav and Sampoorna looked quite adamant to come.
He indicated the watchman to let him in. Saurav and Sampoorna rush to Anirudh but he indicates them to stay silent as everybody had slept. He takes them in his study. Sampoorna says, "Jamai babu, hame aapse kuch bohot zaruri baat karni thi!" Anirudh nods and Sampoorna continues," Woh Bondita..." Anirudh says, his heart heavy, "Kon Bondita?" Sampoorna looks at him dumbfounded. Saurav looks at his wallet which was in his hands. He snatches it from him and says," Wahi jiski tasveer aap apne batue mai lekar ghumte hai!" He removes Bondita's photo and was about to throw it when Anirudh jerks his wallet and Bondita's picture from Saurav's hands. He says," Himmat kese hui meri Bondita ki tasveer ko haath lagane ki?!"
Sampoorna says smiling," Ek min pehle tak toh aap kisi Bondita ko jaante bhi nhi the, aur abb, Meri Bondita?" She continues," Aap agar meri baat sunenge toh shayad aapka bacha kucha gussa bhi gayab ho jayega." Sampoorna narrates everything to Anirudh, every minute detail, making sure that nothing is left back. As Sampoorna proceeds with Bondita's side of the story, Anirudh experiences guilt fill his heart. He could feel the guilt pouring in as he came to know that how wrong he has been, how judgemental he has been, despite of knowing Bondita from so many days, he didn't trust her.
Saurav even hands him the potli that he fetched from Brijwasi's hut. He tells, "Aaj panchayat ke saath kuch log Brijwasi ke ghar par chaan been karne gaye the, waha se hame yeh potli mili. Isme gaav walo ke saare kimti gehne aur paise hai." Sampoorna smiles and says," Dekha meri Bondita ka karnaamaa! Bhale hi usne khudne itna kuch saha, par usne gaav valo ki mehnat ki kamai par aanch nhi aane di." She dentangles an anklet from the potli and says," Yeh Bondita ki payal hai, uske maa baba ne usse uske janmdin par di thi pichle varsh."
Bondita gets ready in her salwaar kurti and leaves for the market to get chores done. She meets and greets her old neighbour, Mrs. Chaterjee who really adored Bondita. Mrs. Chaterjee says, "Bondita, kaha chali gayi thi meri bachhi? Hamne kitna yaad Kiya tujhe!" Bondita smiles at her and says," Maa baba ke guzar jaane ke baad mai Tulsipur chali gai thi mama mami ke paas. Abhi yaha chutti manane aai hu!" Mrs.Chaterjee notices her sindoor filled maang and the shakha pola in her hand. She says," Teri shaadi ho gai Bondita?" Bondita smiles forcefully and says," Haa, kuch hi samay pehle shaadi hui meri!" Mrs. Chaterjee says excited," Arre waah, kya naam hai tere pati ka? Khyaal rakhte hai na woh tera?" Bondita says,"Anirudh, Anirudh Roy Choudhury naam hai! Aur haan khyaal rakhte hai mera!" Says Bondita remembering how he took care of her when she was ill and injured.
They heard the falling of stick and turn back to see Trilochan and other family members standing distraught and dejected. Trilochan stumbles and Anirudh rushes to him. Trilochan says, "Hamari bahu ko itna kuch ka samna akele karna pad raha tha, aur hamne, hamne uska saath dene ki bajaye usse khud se dur kar diya, kitni baatein sunayi, kitna kuch kaha, par usne ek shabd bhi palatkar nhi kaha."
