Yoo Jeong.

The first man to thrill Seol's heart. The man who introduced her to a new world outside of school and part-time. The man who taught her many things, about love, about relationships, and also pain.

He was a senior two levels above Seol. When he first met her, Seol was an entry level student. They met at the French club.

At first their relationship was just sunbae-hoobae, but everything changed when the club chief held a drinking event together to strengthen the friendship of the members. Yoo Jeong, who was originally sitting apart from Seol, moved to her side in the middle of the party. Seol politely poured soju for her senior. They chat lightly.

The second round, they all went to a karaoke place. Even with discordant voice and causing noise pollution, the seniors sang with confidence. Some of them were getting drunk. Seol actually felt uncomfortable being in a crowd for too long, especially in the midst of drunken people. One of the seniors pulled her up to sing and dance together. Seol refused and was about to sit back down, when suddenly her stomach was hugged from behind. Seol reflexively twisted her senior's arm, but then apologized. There was almost a commotion, but another senior calmed the drunk senior. And Yoo Jeong pulled Seol out.

"I am sorry..."

"Why are you apologizing to me? It wasn't my hand that you twisted."

Seol just chuckled softly.

"Besides, what you did earlier was correct. Han Sunbae should be the one apologizing to you. That was sexual harassment."

Seol nodded.

"Do you want to come back in, or go home?"

“I'll just go home,” Seol bowed and left.

But Yoo Jeong followed her. Seol turned her head, frowning in confusion.

“I want to go home too,” Yoo Jeong said before Seol asked.

Seol nodded in understanding.

Yoo Jeong matched his pace with Seol by his side. They walked in silence.

Slowly snowflakes fell from the dark sky. Seol looked up, smiling accepting the snowflakes that had fallen on top of her face.

"What season do you like the most?" Yoo Jeong asked.

"I love spring, when the cold weather warms up and the flowers begin to bloom."

"I like winter," Yoo Jeong stretched out his palm to accept the snowflake, "I like seol."

"What?" Seol turned her head, wide-eyed.

"Seol... seolhwa," Yoo Jeong pointed out the snowflake in his hand, "snowflakes."

“Ah,” Seol nodded in understanding. Her face was flushed with embarrassment for having misunderstood.

Seolhwa is another name for nunseong-i / snowflake. And that is also the meaning of her name. Seol was born at the time when the first snowflakes fell in winter 20 years ago.
