Inui Seishu did not feel his normal self today. No, the day was normal enough. The azure sky was still clear, the autumn breeze cool on his fair skin.
His mind was what had suddenly drifted like the falling sakura leaves.
Is he himself?
Inui felt strange. His day was fairly normal. He woke up to a text from you-
[Imouto<3]: Dicks from Mizu middle are gunna catch this lesson. Koko an I'll meet you at Olee. Love ya bitch <3
He got dressed, had an everyday breakfast... Nothing out from the ordinary.
Inui sighed as he glanced around Olee Cake and Pastry, the sweet smell making him hungry again, but he held himself back from eating the dessert in front of himself. It was probably childish, but he always felt that the dango tasted better when he ate it with his friends.
He scoffed lightly with a small smile, "How stupid.." He mumbled to himself.
This was so strange, he wasn't normally so nostalgic. It felt like he was suddenly more than what he was when he woke up this morning...
Maybe someth-
"A shame you hadn't joined me-"
Inui's head snapped up, he turned in his wire backed chair. Eyes alert and suspicious, scanning over the outdoor patio of the bakery. He was mostly alone with no one standing over his shoulder.
A sudden chill shot up his spine, once again, something so disjointed whispered into his ear when he closed his eyes.
He lightly touched his chest, massaging a phantom pain he'd never know, disappearing as quickly as it came.
He was snapped out of his contemplations when his phone vibrated.
[Koko💰 ]: 'We'll be there early, [y/n] is acting really weird'
'Hmm?' Inui's lips pressed into a thin line. 'She's acting weird too?' Seishu shook his sunflower hair. Everything was weird today, everything felt weird today.
He was missing something, there was a sudden pain in his chest again. A sensation of wetness on his dry fingers as he lifted them to inspect. His hand felt foreign for a moment as if it had been through more than him.
He narrowed his blue eyes when he noticed a small black circle under his thumb nail... What the fuck was going on? He'd never noticed it before. No, to say it was never there before would be more apt.
No, something supernatural must be happening. Koko said you were acting weird too.
Something was going on.
"Inu!" The normally stoic boy looked up, his blue eyed gaze landing on you, your usually severe face bright with relief and exuberance. There were rare tears glistening in your eyes.
Inui stood in a rush, chair scraping along the stone patio floor, grasping onto the outdoor table to steady himself as you crashed into him.
Were you crying?
"[n/n]?" Inui asked in a hushed and trembling voice. He didn't know why, but a sudden desperation grasped his entire being, as if this was an impossible reunion.
His breath came in short and stilted, becoming more distressed as his eyes began to water from how tight he was squeezing them shut.
"[n/n]... what's going on?" Inui asked you in a whisper, his shaking hands wrapped up in your Black Dragon's jacket.
"Inu-you're alive." You breathed out against his chest.
"A-Alive?"
Yes, it made sense now, if he were crazy... He could remember the feeling of warm, sticky fluid on his face, the sound of rain. [n/n] crying.
"Hm? What's going on today? I think I remember something, but it also feels like it's not mine to remember..." Yes, he remembered an older you, blood, a gun. Flashes of a foreign memory.
You moved in his crushing grasp, looking up at him, "We should go to the shop... There's a lot that's changed. There's so much to do."
He saw an unfamiliar smile spread on your face. Your smiles were usually small or malicious. This one was a sweet grin, nearly splitting your face.
Koko was right, you were acting strange today, however, so was he.
There was a scoff and Inui caught Kokonoi's irritated look, "Tsk. The fuck is up with everyone today?"
A light smile lifted the corner of his pale lips, Koko amusing him. He could see how his friend's eyebrow twitched in irritation. Inui had long since admitted to himself that Koko was cutest when motivated, but seeing him aggravated was cute too.
Inui shook those useless thoughts from his mind.
He had no clue what was going on, but his friends were his friends.
He was brought back to the moment by you.
"Kyaa~ Yan Yan, I love you, Inui~!" You squealed and pulled out of Inui's arms.
Inui watched as you did a small victory dance, your heels clicking and clacking on the pavement. A fondness gripped his chest, 'So cute.'
You tore open the foil seal at the top and pulled out a cracker stick and dipped it into the strawberry frosting, your puffy cheeks turning pink with happiness.
"Yumm~" Your eyes sparkled and Inui chuckled at your cuteness.
Kokonoi stood off to the side, looking on in disgust, "What the fuck is happening?"
Inui's face became a neutral mask once more as he glanced back to his friend, "I'm not sure, Koko, however, I do know that things are different." He looked back to his hand, gazing at the black circle under his thumb nail.
"Yes, things are different starting now."
Kokonoi just stared at his best friends. "I guess..." He mumbled, convinced that at least things weren't going to continue as they were if today was anything to go by.
"You're weird too now, Inupi."
Inui eyes softened his stoic façade as he watched Kokonoi try to grasp what was happening.
Things were different. Inui knew that much at least.
I know this was a short chapter, but I didn't want to shoot from one pov to the next in the same chapter. If it was a small change, it's one thing, but a full shift in perspective would be disjointing.
