The time? 11:43 at night.
The setting? Dark, cars parked along the fancy and clean roads.
The place? The Yamate. A rich, western settled district in Yokohama.
Why were they here? Surveillance. They were undercover, not to be seen.
For who? Annetta Brownson, a high class foreign escort who was looking to get out of that life. Rumor had it she was looking to get knocked up by a local married doctor, trapping him into buying her silence.
Why were they tailing her? Because that doctor happened to be the father to---
"Benkei, stop monologuing like you're in a 50's western drama."
Benkei turned to Wakasa with mild annoyance, "Don't lecture me."
They stared at one another... and Benkei cracked a smile and continued grinning at Wakasa's indifference.
Wakasa and Benkei were on surveillance, that much was true. A thrill filled them both at the thought of just how much everyone's futures were riding on their success, however morbid that must have sounded.
Benkei sighed, leaning back in his seat, thick arms crossed over a broad chest, "Back in the gang life."
"Mhmm," Wakasa mumbled around the skewer between his teeth.
"Ordered around by total runts," He side eyed his friend, and scratched at his goatee.
"Mhmm."
"It's kinda exciting."
"Mhmm."
Benkei grinned, shaking his head, "I can't believe it though, who'd of thought, little [n/n] was gunna be another successor to Shin?"
"Mhmm," Wakasa's exhausted eyes didn't change, but he did look a bit more contemplative.
"She's real different too," Benkei tapped a finger to his chin and looked to the roof of the car, "Talking about honor and Shin like she was..." He brushed that off, "The 'ara ara' was weird though."
"Hmm. Yeah, she's really changed," Wakasa finally spoke again, pulling the skewer from his mouth, replacing it with another stick of seasoned chicken.
"Can people really change that fast though?"
Wakasa shrugged.
"To think The Black Dragon's lost control of Yokohama so fast though... The Kanto region is shattered again, huh?"
And it was, Wakasa nodded. To lose control of Yokohama that's been in under the Black Dragons since Shin.
Hm.
And it remained silent for a time, Benkei glanced at the digital time on the dashboard, the time 11:56... Surveillance sure was boring.
"We're gunna be killed, huh?"
Wakasa's gaze didn't leave his lap, "If Nekketsu-chi says so, then it must be."
Wakasa knew you well. You were very different from when he last saw you... And that was something he regretted. He had regrets. Many. But you? The way things went down before you were locked up was a regret of his.
But he knew you.
You had stormed out of the dojo when Wakasa asked you to leave the gang life, that it wasn't healthy for you. Wakasa knew it was a sore spot, but he only said what he did because he cared about you.
Wakasa was an only child and his parents weren't ever around, the streets raised him. He knew he'd never have a child, but you? He really cared about you. Maybe like a sibling or like a daughter. He related to you, he saw the destructive path you were on, being around Shinichiro's brother Izana wasn't helping you...
