First Timeline. 2012, Shibuya Cemetery.

It was your 21st birthday today.

On Izana's 21st birthday you all got wasted on a cruise to the Philippines.

On Ran's 21st birthday you all got wasted on a private jet to Fiji.

On Sanzu's 21st birthday you all got wasted and doped out of your mind and went skydiving in Tibet.

On Kakucho's 21st birthday you all got wasted in Moscow, (where Sanzu nearly died from the spiked Russian vodka, but we don't talk about that).

On your 21st birthday? You were spending it at the cemetery. Izana had insisted on taking you to South Korea, but you refused, kindly. Izana usually spoiled you, so you knew he'd get his way later in the week.

"I survived another year," You spoke to the grave, lighting three sticks of incense.

You kneeled before the family grave, head bowed and chest heavy, "I'm sorry," you whispered.

Living with the guilt was normal by now, it having been six years since he died.

You were becoming more isolated with each passing day, only Inui, who was currently watching your back, was privy to what was going on on the down low with you.

Tachibana Naoto, an aspiring Shibuya detective. New to the force, yet one of the rising best. If anyone in Toman knew what you were doing with him...

'Use violence to protect,' You remembered, the light of the church making his frame glow in your memories.

You began to pray, hoping his spirit can guide you forward, maybe help you become a better person... or even to just point you towards the right path-

"[y/n]"

Your eyes open slowly, recognizing the voice as not Inui's.

Your vision stays at the feet of the Mitsuya family grave, "Yes, Mikey?"

"You're here again," His tone was toneless.

You simply stayed put, refusing to brake your praying position.

"I don't understand."

And of course Mikey didn't understand and you pitied him for it.

"You're the reason he's dead."

You didn't move, hearing it from Mikey didn't change anything, since it was true.

"So why honor him?"

Why honor him?

You calmed further, understanding that this was Mikey, so his blunt assessment was to be expected.

"I honor him because... I regret it..."

You had no clue what to do with yourself. You wanted to honor him by becoming a better person, but how? You've spent your whole life being wicked.

How does someone change?

Is it even possible? Do you even have the capacity to be a good person? What even was a good person?

Was it someone who was born 'good'? Was it a mental thing? Can it be learned?

Was it defined as things you did for others? Was it a do-good mentality?

Could someone as volatile and prone to great violence like you be able to be good?

Could a murderer be good? Can they even understand kindness?

Did you have to be born good, or could you overcome your evil nature through great effort?

"I honor him, because I want to be a good person, like he was."

It's quiet for a long while and you light three more incense. Mikey and Inui quiet.

You were surprised Mikey was even here, he tended to avoid the cemetery where his sister died. Where nearly every person he loved was buried. Where Kisaki and Hanma put them. Maybe his heart was somewhere here underground, too.

There was a rustling then a click.

"All alone, huh? My lucky day."

You finally looked up from the memorial stone and saw twelve men, guns pointed at you three.

The Ivory Hand Company.

Inui had his pistol out, pointed on the closest one, Mikey looking unbothered.

"Surrender and lie with the dead," It came out like a sigh from Mikey, hands in his pockets, slicked back blond hair falling slightly in his face.

"You think you have the upperhan--" the whole top of his head was missing with a '*BANG*!'

The sound was followed by maniacal laughter, a head of pink peeking over a far off memorial stone.

You just faced forward once more, understanding why Mikey was here now.

You were supposed to be killed here today. Maybe your lifeless body would have landed on this family grave stone. It would have been the closest you'd ever been to Mitsuya... It could have been a blessing.

A blessing Mikey robbed from you.

There was more laughter as Sanzu's gun went off again, then you hear Izana laugh.

Everything was going off without a hitch, huh?

Izana approached, gun smoking, and you looked up to him, "[n/n]-chi~ I missed you!"

You smiled softly and looked back to the incense holder and lit three more.

A body fell to his knees before you, trembling.

It was Uemora Keiji, the man who met you in the Minato ward executive offices to negotiate usage of the port for shipments of paraphernalia to Australia and the US.

So he came for your life to destabilize Toman?

The graveyard was filled with his pleads to spare his life.

You felt nothing in this moment, just on your knees in the prayer position, looking Uemora in the eye.

Mikey grabbed your attention, gun pressed to the side of the boss' head and looked at you with hollow, lifeless eyes, "Happy birthday, [y/n]," Your leader blows Uemora's brains out, kicks his chest and his lifeless body falls away from you.

The look Mikey gives you felt like a warning, as if he knew everything you've been doing as of late...

As he walked away he paused and addressd you over the shoulder, "Stop pining over a dead man, [y/n]."
