The atmosphere in the bike shop turned house was one of a lazy Sunday. The fan rotated slowly overhead, while the sunlight spilled through the upper windows, casting shadows and illuminating dust like motes of light.
It had been over a month since Baji moved in with Kazutora and some louts from Black Dragon.
Sigh.
He slept on a real cushy couch, had real nice food and didn't have to go to school. On top of all of this his mom wasn't mad about it.
Sigh.
Contrary to popular belief-- he was smart. Yeah he was shit at math, let alone writing. But his intuition? Ability for deduction? Reading people? The only thing ever standing in his way was his own ego that maybe fed a self-sacrificing hero complex.
Sigh.
Baji had to admit, only to himself, being waited on hand and foot by Koko was nice, even if it was starting to get old.
He flipped another channel on the television.
Sigh.
He was bored.
He looked over his shoulder to his left and watched Kazutora sleep peacefully on the second couch. His arm was tossed over his yellow highlighted hair, relaxed face and feet kicked up.
He grinned slightly, proud that he wasn't tossing and muttering like usual.
Kazutora was working hard with an online therapist to heal from his trauma. It was slow progress, But Baji and surprisingly, you, were super supportive and with two others willing to help only made it easier for Kazutora to adjust.
Baji knew Kazutora never meant to kill anyone, let alone Shinichiro-kun, but he did and was finally coming to terms with it.
He never counted Kazutora's attack on him. Baji understood that bastard Kisaki was manipulating him, it being easy considering how out of his mind Kazutora was.
No, Baji refused to allow Kisaki sully his friendship with his unstable friend.
It was already a nightmare that Chifuyu was hurt right now, let alone what could have happened if you hadn't been involved.
He then looked over his other shoulder and watched Koko at the kotatsu, counting money and balancing a record book.
Baji had been watching his housemates since he had started staying here and could say he was shocked by just how you all lived.
First, it was obvious you three could afford a luxury apartment in the heart of Kanto with all the underhanded shit going down in Black Dragon.
He didn't like it, to know the type of crime you were involved in. Toman was about butting heads and looking cool. But Black Dragon? Actual crimes. Assaulting civilians, drugs (both light and heavy), smuggling, kidnaping for politicians, the list goes on. All in the name of money.
He glanced at Koko again, flipping through notes and penning down numbers. It was all his design too. Baji had to admit, Koko was really good at making money. Too good. Baji wondered, fleetingly, what pushed him to be so good?
"Yes, Baji-san?" Came Koko's too smooth voice and they locked eyes.
Baji didn't want to admit he was spying on the other guy so deflected.
"I'm bored, is [y/n] gunna let us out soon," He paused, "For anything?"
Koko's narrow eyes looked away and it was quiet again, the only sound was from Kazutora's light snoring and Koko's fingers counting through paper.
