This morning.
"Awe man come on," Takemitchy complained as the three of you walked up to Mikey's detached garage room at the back of his house, "Why do I gotta be the one to fight Kaku-chan?"
You, Takemichi and Draken agreed to meet at Mikey's place the day of the fight. Your blood was pumping along with all of Toman's... and you had to admit that Takemitchy's was too... except for other reasons.
You never blamed Takemitchy for his anxieties since he was the one who had to experience the awful futures more than you ever did. You saw one future and vowed to never hold Inui's hand again. That one time was more than enough for you and Takemitchy was hell bent on hopping back and forth. Talk about mental fortitude.
So no, you were just fine with Takemitchy and his complaining.
"Because you're the first division captain, Takemitchy," Draken drawled with a sigh, pulling his phone from his pocket. He sounded exasperated, but he had a slight smile on his face as he looked away from the captain.
"You got this, Captain. You're a strong guy," You encouraged with a cheeky thumbs up, but Takemichi looked so done with the conversation.
"Easy for powerhouses like you two to say that to my face," He muttered and crossed his arms petulantly.
The three of you stood outside Mikey's house with varying grins as Mikey stepped out, a taiyaki stuffed in his mouth, "It's almost time," He mumbled around the food and you thought it was adorable.
"Yeah, it's the anniversary of the founding of Black Dragons. February 22nd. The day of the smoke. Fix your attitude Takemitchy," You elbowed him in the ribs and he gasped, clutching at his chest, "We're gunna win just fine, okay?" You held that same grin, but Takemichi deflated even further, "If Mikey-kun can talk some sense into Izana-senpai then we won't even need to fight."
Takemichi sighed and Draken shook his head and pat the captain's shoulder with a heavy hand, "Suck it up. We're fighting one way or another."
Takemichi wanted to protest, but they were interrupted by an irritated Mikey who noisily tried to signal them to enter with his hands, "Come in," He grumbled, his hair a mess and it had you cooing as you picked up a brush and pushed past Draken.
Mikey plopped down onto the couch and crossed his arms, eyes closed and brows drawn, "Okay, last meeting."
You happily got to work on Mikey's hair while Draken looked unaffected on a floor cushion.
"We're meeting with Izana-senpai today," You smiled, brush gliding through Mikey's hair, "Your big brother, Mikey-kun."
Mikey puffed out a breath, "I remembered that."
"Liar," Drake accused and you chuckled. The two of them fought good naturedly often enough that it was seen as some form of comedy routine.
Izana-senpai.... you were going to see him again today. You didn't want to have to fight him, would rather Mikey fix whatever bridge that was currently burning between them. The Izana you knew really loved his little brother so you were mostly confused as to what the hell their relationship was before the Kantou Incident.
Before you could go into a full scale tangent in your mind you heard Draken's phone ring with Emma's ring tone. You snapped back to focus on Mikey's hair and realized you were fishtailing his bangs...
Wait this was actually cute... and Mikey didn't seem to mind whatever it was you were doing with his hair.
"Yo, Emma." Draken greeted his... what were they? Were they just extra friendly now? Or were they dating? You didn't know, but you did know that the look on his face didn't sit too well with Draken.
