Ichika Mitsuya was a hard working single mother. She worked 12 hour shifts as a clerical worker for a pharmaceuticals company six days a week. The pay wasn't so great and the benefits left much to be desired for a mother of three.

But she would do it. She would pull herself out of bed everyday, no matter how much pain her back was in, no matter how much her head hurt.

She would go to work. Be talked down to by her manager, be harassed by her co-workers, suffer insufferable customer calls...

All so she could provide for her incredible children.

Ichika was a proud mother. She could have never asked for better kids.

Luna and Mana were her two youngest, only two years apart. They were so well behaved, always so warm and caring and smart.

They brought life to her eyes whenever she saw them, making the pain worth it.

She loved her little girls.

Her son, however, her son was the perfect son.

He was always there when she needed him. He stepped up where his sister's father, Maseru, fell. Takashi was thoughtful, talented, brave, dependable and responsible.

He was a perfect son for her, a perfect friend to his friends, a prefect brother for his sisters, a perfect student at school, even was the president of the sewing club...

Though there was something he was that scared her.

He was a gang member.

At first she didn't mind it. He was thirteen and his friends needed him, so he naturally was there to help.

The first time he came home with a split lip and black eye, with tears in his clothes, she felt different about it.

He rarely was hurt, but that first time was enough to put her on edge.

Ichika had heard about kids in gangs actually dying... like Takashi's friend Keisuke.

She shuddered and couldn't imagine a world where her son was dead... it sounded dark and cold. Unlivable.

She snapped herself from such thoughts... and she remembered just why she had been thinking like that...

Takashi was supposed to be home already. In fact he was supposed to be home hours ago and he wasn't answering his phone.

This was so unlike him. He always answered his phone when she called because he hated making her worry.

He had rushed from the house hours ago, claiming his friends needed him... and then was gone.

He had just gotten home from running around with his friend, Peh-yan (sweet boy) so she was relieved he'd be home to help make desserts with his sisters...

She paced around the living room, having put down Luna and Mana hours ago... she glanced at the clock.

12:33am

She turned to pace again.

She was about to try calling Takashi again when there was a knock at the door and fear filled her.

Her Takashi wouldn't knock, he wouldn't need to.

Who the hell was at her door past midnight...

Was it the police?! Was her son in trouble? Was he hurt?

Ichika's hands shook as she reached for the door--

Her son was being carried by a girl.

"Ah, sorry for the trouble, Mitsuya-san."
