Ran and Rindou were legends in the delinquent world. The Charismatic Duo. The Kings of Ashes. The rulers of Roppongi.
Those titles, their reputations... would mean nothing if they followed through with these orders. It was bad enough that Izana, their leader, wasn't as on board with this strategy of Kisaki's... No, following through would be a betrayal to their friend Izana, right? But Kisaki was their strategist.
Was there a right answer?
Yes, yes there was.
They were given orders, but they weren't foolish enough to not admit when they were too scared to follow through. Killing wasn't something they were new to, nor were they too shy to commit to it... but it was about who it was against.
They weren't scared of Kisaki or Izana when it came to this... but the order?
The Haitani brother sat across from one another at the outdoor café. The wind still had a slight chill to it, the February air more pleasant than cold now that spring was approaching. It was nice enough that they both had on long sleeve shirts and loose hakama pants.
Even with the agreeable weather, the loose fitting clothing and open café, they were sweating. Ran mirrored Rindou's seriousness; the former's phone was out between them with a single contact open.
"We have to do it," Ran muttered.
"It's the only option," Rindou agreed.
"We'll be in trouble if Kisaki and Izana find out."
"We'll be dead when she finds out."
They stared at one another for a long, silent, moment and came to an unspoken agreement to stop stalling and Ran initiated the call.
One ring.
Two rings.
"Moshi Moshiii~" came a feminine voice over the speaker. The background was loud, a few arguments happening, masculine voices shouting until a snap of a finger silenced the rowdy background noise.
That should have been completely normal, but the brothers were already on edge and their nervousness making Ran's bouncing leg shake the table. Rindou was too wrapped up with listening to the other end of the call that he had no chance of being annoyed.
"Ah," Ran's voice warbled and he cleared his throat, "[y/n]-chan, good to hear your voice." His attempt at his normally whimsical voice sounded far too strained.
You chuckled and Rindou sat a bit straighter, teeth messing with his lower lip, "Ah, Ran-kun~, hello, what's the occasion?"
"Well-" he let out a nervous laugh, "We called to exchange information."
"We? Oh how rude of me, hello, Rindou-kun."
"Hello." He said subdued like he was about to be scolded by a parent, except this parent would kill them if they didn't like this information.
"Now information? Oh, do tell." There was a peep from the other end of the call and you cleared you throat and whatever was happening was silenced once again.
"We are affiliated with a gang now-"
"Oh? Congratulations."
"Thank you, [y/n]-kun," Ran was so on edge he hadn't even realized he changed your honorific in his nervousness.
You chuckled over the line and a chill ran down both Haitani's spines.
They needed to get this off their chests, hot potato this information to someone else! "Our upper brass gave us an order we can't abide by... to seriously injure or rather kill one Mitsuya-san."
