"What do you girls want?" You asked quietly while you looked through the vending machine filled with different carbonated drinks. Mitsuya had already told you that his sisters liked mango teas, but you were doing your best to distract the obviously traumatized girls.
You remembered what had transpired to land you all here. You had a call from Inui first. Inui got a call from Osanai on his burner phone, the drive-by wasn't that, but a home invasion and it was going down that day and at the Mitsuya's.
You were frantic to reach their house, the anxiety that had gripped you was suffocating. You had no idea if they were even alive still or not. Looking down at a wide eyed Luna who wasn't really paying attention to you reminded you of Mitsuya's funeral. How the little girls cried, their mother unable to handle her grief and fell apart when she stepped up to the closed casket. She had screamed about not cremating her baby...
Luna's grip on your hand brought you back to the present while Mana's arms around your neck was a bit harsher on you than her sister's. You didn't mind, anything to get your thoughts away from the guilt.
"Well, Takashi-kun told me what you girls like, so..." Your voice trailed off as you pressed the right buttons to get two mango teas. You handed one to Luna and held the other and made your way through the sterile white walls of the hospital's hallways.
The weight of Mana on your back hurt your stab wound in your shoulder, but you didn't care. It was a good distraction.
Mitsuya was a wreak and you felt it was all your fault.
It had been a while since you cried. You last cried when you had come back from the fucked up future where Inui had suffered. But before that? You cried for making Mitsuya cry when he thought he watched his friend die. Before that? For Inui who was bleeding out with you in Kisaki's penthouse. Before that? You cried a lot for the awful shit you did when you went to bed.
Guilt wasn't new for you. You lived with so much, the first bit of guilt was when Mitsuya originally died and you've been holding your head above water ever since.
There was so much guilt.
And now there was even more.
"Is ka-chan gunna be okay?" A tiny whisper reached you and you looked down at Luna's tiny, rounded shoulders.
You swallowed thickly and cleared your throat, "Ka-chan is strong, she'll pull through." Your voice didn't waver.
Nothing else was said as the three of you made it back to the inpatient room, the door had an officer stationed there, obviously since the patient's house was shot up.
The house.
Yeah, the place was crawling with officers within ten minutes of Mitsuya showing up with the other Toman members. It was obvious his terrified neighbors called the police.
You were in your gang uniform so Draken was quick to shove you in the direction of the medic, Yako, bless his soul for his hard work. You hung out in the back of the ambulance, your gang uniform jacket in a top compartment of the truck.
You were in the vehicle when Mama Mitsuya was loaded up, her face pale and breathing labored. Yako and his partner hooked her up to an oxygen mask and an IV drip all while she was unconscious.
"Onee-san," Luna mumbled and you blinked, realizing you were just standing outside the door, the officer giving you a pitying look. You scoffed and walked forward, past him and into the room. You didn't need pity from a stranger.
It was a single room, the bed closer to the window, an empty one pushed up to one side for the girls where you helped Luna onto it, and opened her tea for her. You felt Mana leave your back, Mitsuya now holding her in his arms.
